Was there any truth in the stories a few years ago that Queen and Michael Jackson were re-working these tracks?

Nope, no truth to that. I believe Jackson owns the rights to these tracks so a proper release will probably never happen.
Completely true.

Sometime in the late 90s, Brian and Roger decided to send John over to throw down some funk bass. No one has seen John since.

Just saw him walk by my house. Playing some funky bass. Nice to see him.

the real reason john has dissapeared is because he is now black, with a false nose, and a monkey on his shoulder
Though with Jackson's current money troubles he may well try to sell the demos of the tracks on ebay soon ;) I wonder how much of that song 'Victory' exists? As far as I know it's never been leaked unlike 'State of Shock' or 'There must be more to life than this'.
Maybe that's why John couldn't play bass on all the Hot Space songs...he was so busy recording Thriller
"I have no time for Time magazine. Or Rolling Stone." Jethro Tull
the track recorded with jackson are :
There m b t l t t
State of shock
Victory

The first 2 aren't that rare, the last 1 is circulating by some die hard collectors... but though the track isn't that special, obviously unfinished...but rare though...you'd better look fo the low gen recordings from april 1988 dominion theatre from fred, great performance and avaible in great quality with Cliff R....

Cheers
