Need to buy a new Deskktop

you all seem to be good with this stuff so what do you all recommend i buy as a new desktop computer. I'm looking for a PC, not a MAC and want nice GBage and the most professional possible. I'm looking to do my animating on it, so preferably if people know what the Pixar animators use. If anyone has any info. for me that would be greaaaaattt

I recently got this HP:

For the price you pay $620 minus the $50 that you will get on rebate, it adds to only paying $570, but keep in mind that this is just the desktop unit along with the keyboard and the mouse and it doesn't include the monitor and the speakers. Yet for only $570 that seems like a very fair price considering that you get 2GB in RAM, Windows Vista, and 320 GB on your hard drive. The processor is an AMD Athlon 64 Processor of 2.4 GHz, which may not be as fast as the Intel Processor, but after searching for information online I've found that the difference between the AMD and the Intel is not very much in terms of speed and you might not notice that an Intel processor is faster unless you play a lot of video games on your computer.

However, my only advice is to go through websites where you can find customer reviews and find what computer better suits your needs.

P.S. The 3D computer graphics program used by Pixar is called Renderman, which is developed by Pixar Studios. Renderman is now available to the public under a new version as a Maya plug-in.

Heh, buy up your AMD before Intel puts them out of business for good. To be honest, if I were video editing or animating, I'd want an Intel Quad-core and plenty of RAM, along with a top-of-the-line graphics card. It's expensive, but if this is really what you want to do, it'll be worth it in the long run.

I took computer graphics at Nassau Community College, and then I went to NYIT for my BA.

I'm glad that you're looking forward to choose CG as a major. It's a lot of fun indeed.

Computer graphics requires a lot of dedication, which shouldn't be an issue if you're the kind of person who enjoys being creative and you have a passion for art.

I have to say that the only thing that can get frustrating at times are computer programs that require the use of action script. Typing a code to execute a function is a pain in the ass because even the smallest mistake wouldn't make your function work.

Nevertheless, there might be little things that can be frustrating at first but you'll eventually get past them.
