I guess I should've kept my mouth shut about Michelangelo Antonioni being the last surviving member of a generation of directors. He died late yesterday in Rome, at the ripe age of 94.

Antonioni, who was left partly paralyzed after a stroke in 1985, is remembered primarily for his depiction of swinging London in the legendary film "Blow Up", in which David Hemmings plays a dandy photographer who may or may not have photographed a murder in the background of one of his pictures. It was Antonioni's first English-language film, followed by the less succesful, though now a cult-classic, "Zabriskie Point".

Antonioni was still active in cinema, making a segment of the film "Eros" in 2004, for example.

This is a pretty bad week for cinema, I do say!

Damn! Yup! You should have kept your mouth shut! ( or shouldn't have written that, whatever...) he was one of my favourite directors, I have to admit!! And, man!, Blow-Up was truly a masterpiece! RIP Mikey!
