I just looked and there are still plenty of seeders. I can see over 40.

That is the frustrating part, I see 49 seeders and none are sharing.

Okay, at the risk of (again) seeming like a complete idiot where this torrent business is concerned, I have to ask why this is happening. I'm sure others are seeding, and I know I've been 'seeding' since yesterday. I left my laptop on overnight and my numbers now say my Up Speed is 26.4kb/s, that I've uploaded 4.63GB and the ratio is 1.261. Can I be one of those seeding but not sharing? What does that even mean and how do you correct it?

Rest assured, the problem is not with you. You are indeed seeding (the proof is the up speed). The problem is with the peer(s) trying to download. Why isn't it working for him/her? I really don't know. Using utorrent often helps, but I've been in that situation too where a torrent fails to "catch"... Maybe it's the tracker? Perhaps one of the technical-savvy QZers could give a better answer.

Thanks for the advice about switching to U Torrent, it solved my problem. The two torrents I was using worked for the 1st 75% but quit working inexplicably. I will seed once this has completed.

Phew! Thanks, Ginger. I've downloaded some fantastic files from here but have nothing to offer in return. The best I can do is seed what I receive, and I wanted to be certain I was at least doing that. Thanks again!

btw - your uTorrent advice worked perfectly for me as well. Thanks for that, too.

Now I understand your problem. I thought you meant you did not see any seeders.
Luckily your problem is solved. I always used Azureus, but since a while UTorrent. With the last one I get up to 400kbps when I'm stepping into a torrent that already has peers with a certain percentage of download. After that I fall back to the average speed of course.
