'Princes' is probably Queen's best song of the 1980s, and certainly their best since the last really great song of that era, 'Rock It (Prime Jive)' from 1980. Can't really argue with much else you said though, except to say the songs on AKOM sounded okay when released and it's only now, 20 years later, that they sound really dated. A lot of 80s music is like that, not just Queen.

There is nothing new or innovative on that pile of crap. More of the same tripe from the previous offering. The entire thing sounds like four uninspired individuals going through the motions. They really hit rock bottom with this disaster. They could even make up their minds whether to make this a soundtrack or not.
1. One vision – already a single release. Sounds flat and sterile. Live version is a bit better.
2. A kind of magic – Talk about a snorefest!
3. Pain is so close to pleasure – Yuk! This is one of their very worst
4. One year of love – Michael Bolton would proud of this piece of shit
5. Who wants to live forever – Probably the best of the bunch and that is not saying much
6. Friends will be friends – Sub-standard. Sounds like they are trying to write a hit single.
7. Gimme the prize – This song is no prize. Sound more like a consolation prize
8. Don’t loose your head – Loose this song instead. 80’s garbage!

Could you give examples of why you think its bad rather than just attacking each one?[/QUOTE]As you wish. First I find this entire album to sound flat, uninspired & dated. The production is awful. The songs are sub-par at best. There is nothing new or innovative on this. They simply copied what others were doing at that time instead of taking other styles and making it their own. Everything is drenched in awful sounding synthesizers. You take Freddie voice of most of these songs and you could tell them apart from any other Eruo-pop-synth band of that era. By far their worst album. I know they were going through some difficulties at this time, but really is no excuse. It certainly seems that Freddie’s & Brian’s interest was elsewhere considering the lack of material contributed. Freddie seems only interested in doing disco/dance stuff to impress his circle of friends. The same could be said for John. Only Brian remained true to the vision that was Queen. He was always out-voted by the others who were all too happy to follow trends. [/QUOTE]

And really, Brian loves the A Kind Of Magic album I think...
