Lately I get a lot of emails which have no content, just an attachment, mostly pdf files. I send pdf files myself instead of faxes and letters but I always write something into the email itself.

Would you open such a pdf attachment sent by an unknown sender? I get a lot of these to my @ Queenzone email and also to the Queenzone mail box. I usually do not open them but I am beginning to think that this is maybe a new fashion?

Any advice?

I would delete it. I never open any attachment unless I know who the sender is. Even then if they body of the e-mail is empty I will not open the attachment.

I think people get lazier and think a file is enough.. I wouldn't open it. If it was important, they should be more careful with sending an email.

There was a security problem with PDF's a while ago.

This is one of the first things that came up on google:

In short, if you don't know who's sending you the PDF, don't open it :-)
Thank you very much. I think it's possible that some email programmes send the message as a pdf attachment by default but I do not want to take a risk. I'll write a standard reply for such emails to explain that I am not opening the attachment.

Just a while ago I loaded some malware on my PC because I clicked on a link to an alleged egreeting card!

I replied to that email you sent me, Barb, but I got a message saying it was bounced back today.
Very strange, Erin - this was my private email address, it should not have been returned :(

Could you resend it?

The IT guy at my work says the pdf attachment is a new "technique" to fool spam filters ... and it unfortunately is successful. Today I had to deltete 30 spam e-mails from my work from over the weekend (as opposed to 150 or so in my spam box).

He also indicated that pdf files are not "yet" used to transmit viuses & worms.

That explains why my official email is also swarmed with pdf spams. Fortunately, I am not interested in hot stock tips nor penis enlargement.

I get the penis enlargement ones and viagra ones all the time. Too bad they aren't ads for breast enlargement and butt liposuction, I might indulge.

;)
Wo ist das kamerahhhhhhhhhhh!!! NJ!!!
Thanks, Mike. The emails I get are with no subject and the attachment always says "message" or something. I'll delete them all.

Not interested in penis enlargement and "hot girls"? I get loads of these too. They think they know better :)
