Freddie sitting atop Superman's shoulers.

I was meaning to ask this for some time,it has to do with something Freddie did on some past concerts and i'd really like to know the when's where's and how's. So here we go..

I saw certain scenes where Fred's sitting atop the shoulders of a guy dressed as Superman and I think one as Darth Vader.

I'd like to know which concert tour does he do that and can I find it specifically on youtube? And I suppose it's kinda silly to ask why Freddie did that,but i'd just like to know his reason.

As far as I know, the concert with Freddie atop Darth Vader was Zurich '80, but that needs to be confirmed.

Why'd he do it? I dunno, he figured he'd look like hot shit, which he did.

Oh, and on the last show of the American News... tour he appeared on stage atop Santa Claus ('twas Xmas-time see). I believe that was where it started, sadly only pictures exist.

Freddie was on Darth Vader during some of the Game tour in the States in 1980 but George Lucas got kind of pissy about it because Queen didn't ask for permission first to use his character. I don't remember seeing him do it when I saw them in Providence at the end of August that year. According to an old fanclub magazine I have from that year Wally Versen (security) wrote in his bio that he was an "occasional" Darth Vader.

Providence and saw the whole show but I don't remember the Darth Vader bit. Unless Freddie did it in the bigger cities. I'm not sure. I was 15 at the time and my mind fails me at 42. LOL!

I was in Toronto and don't recall seeing that. I was in about the furthest possible seat from the stage, so truly no surprise. Good show, but not as good as ADATR or NOTW tours.

When I saw Queen at the Birmingam NEC 5/12/80, Freddie arrived at the encore on Darth Vader's shoulders. The previous year (24/11/79) on the Crazy tour it was Superman. Perhaps it was a statement about the power of Queen?
