Why does Freddie look so "creepy" in this picture?

Hi guys... I've seen this picture like 10 times now, and it's creeping me out for some reason. Why does Freddie look like this in this picture?

Because of his dark 'eyeshadow' I guess??

I think he looks really interesting, it's a great picture of him in my opinion.

Yeah, he doesn't look well, and, the light seems to be missing from his eyes.

Oh I don't know. Perhaps he was battling a terminal illness at the time. Perhaps he was trying to cover the symptoms of a wasting disease.

Could've had bigger issues on his mind. Perhaps that's why he looked "creepy"
