I really don't know what to think about this.. I love the idea, but can they pull it off??
I really love Queensryche's 80's material, like Operation:Mindcrime and Warning. Fantastic albums! Progressive, melodic metal with great guitar works and vocal performances...BUT the band has totally lost their sound since Chris DeGarmo left the band.
And now they're doing a cover of Innuendo, which is one of my favourite tracks by Queen. It's a good idea to cover Queen, since they were obviously infuenced by the early Queen sound, but I just wish they had done this some ten years ago. I mean, Geoff's vocal abilities seem to deteriorate year by year (I didn't like his version of Somebody To Love on Stone Cold Queen tribute CD), and I'm really not convinced of their new guitarist. Well, I guess we just have to wait and hear...

There's no doubt in my mind that it'll be great.
Isn't a bad cover of "Innuendo" still really good?
I saw them last night in Baltimore.
No 'Innuendo'. But a surprising encore, with a full version of Pink Floyd's 'Welcome To The Machine' (with Geoff Tate playing a great sax). 'Silent Lucidity' was the finale (which was not on their set list the last three times I saw them?!?!).
Geoff still has the voice. The band still rocks. But, boy do they miss Chris DeGarmo's songwriting and stage presence. Mike Stone, with all the tattoos and his shaved head/metal-braided mohawk-ponytail....is just too, well,....different.
Looking forward to their cover version (fingers crossed)

I wish them well, with or without DeGarmo. I was a big fan in the Rage/Mindcrime/Empire era when I was a kid. I heard "Another Rainy Night" today on XM and it still sounds great 17 years later (ouch).

Nice to hear they've already included something from the forthcoming Take Cover album into their set list. Hopefully we get Innuendo as well one of these days.
I saw them last year on their Mincrime2 Tour, and I was a bit dissapointed. They really miss Chris on stage, as well. I mean, most of the guitar parts were re-arranged, so that they were easier to play. And the new guy, Mike, yes I agree, he doesn't really fit in.
Still waiting for the album, though. There seems to be some other interesting covers on there, as well.
