Under Pressure (different mix) featured in an episode of Scrubs

I just saw an episode of Scrubs on tv that ended with Under Pressure. But I could swear it was some sort of different mix. Drums and Piano sounded much more crisp. The song was obviously reedited for the episode, but the mix just sounded different. Anyone know anything about this? Maybe the Hollywood new mix or something?

There is something that came up about Under Pressure a while back and the quality issue. The US Hollywood records version on "Classic Queen" is a lot nicer than the standard mix that is distributed elsewhere. Unfortunately, I lost the copy I had a while back and can't say exactly why it was better. But I do remember that it was clearer and maybe a little more noise free.

It was truly nicer sounding than the normal album version. Anyone have a sample?

I agree Classic Queen version of Under Pressure is the best mix of all the versions available, in fact the whole album has a better sound quality than the GH equivalent.
Hammer to Fall sounds superb on this album too.

Yes, just too bad they chopped up the Miracle so much to fit on the album. :) I'll try to post a sample of Under Pressure of that release later today..

But if someone can upload an entire dvd of something that's in the shops (right now), but doesn't get pulled up for it because it's "not official material". How is that fair? I make dvd's for my theatre group and if someone copied it, I'd be pissed. It's that simple.

The rule stinks when it doesn't cover things you can still buy, but DOES cover a 10 year old PC game that can only be found 2nd hand. Bootlegs being the exception to the rule. Naturally.

That is the Mike Spencer Mix. Always liked that one much better compared to the original mix. It is close to the original, just better mixed.

Same that was done with some songs of Free, there is a Greatest Hits compilation out, with "remixed" versions, sounds much better and clearer than the original versions.

The Mike Spencer Mix is not the mix on Classic Queen. They are two different mixes, done several years apart.

The Mike Spencer mix is just that, a different mix entirely. In fact, isn't that the one with Brian and Roger's new recordings from 1999?

The Classic Queen mix is a clearer and nicer sounding edit of the album mix. Though, I'm not sure about how it came about. Wish I could find that trainspotting page. I think it had the info about it on there.

Just an edit done for a tv show so it fits in a scene...happens all the time.

The alternate mix of Under Pressure was made by David Richards in late 1991 or early 1992. Suposedly, it was conceived to be a bonus track on a kind of '10th Anniversary Edition' of HOT SPACE. The album was indeed remastered and even released in that form in 1992 with a small note in the backsleeve claiming 'digitally re-mastered'. Apart from CLASSIC QUEEN, the mix has surfaced in several compilations, including some Bowie's. There is also a US re-edit of the video (due to copyright of the used footage being still valid in the USA) that features it.

Wilki: interesting! Always a pleasure reading your comments! Thanks. Could you please elaborate on that Hot Space release and the UP mix? You are not refering to the Hollywood Records release (HR-61038-2) are you? I am also curious about that re-edited video...

The remix is on Classic Queen and unlabeled (and on one of the Bowie comps). It's very similar to the original so most people don't even notice. The Hot Space CD has the original mix, but it also has a bonus remix at the end of the disc, though I can't remember if this is the same as the Classic Queen mix.

One of the parts on the Classic Queen mix where the different mix shows is when they're singing "Caring about ourselves"...you can hear Roger singing more than on the original.
