A question to the Mexicans here

Hi!

Since I might be going to Mexico in october, I would really like to know a few things about the current situation in the country.

What is the situation wiht the hurricane(s). Are Monterrey and Mexico City affected by them in any way? Is the country in a normal state or are there some cities, that are in a similar situation as New Orleans was a few years ago?

Also it would be nice to know how the weather is usually like in october, mainly in Monterrey and Mexico City :)

Yes, I know how to use google, but I thought the best way to find out would be to ask people who actually live in the country.

Well, I don't live in Mexico, but I do live on the border of the U.S. and Mexico. The Yucatan Peninsula, and the states of Sinaloa and southern Sonora were affected by the hurricanes. I don't believe the damage was as bad as in New Orleans, but I could be wrong. Sorry for the lack of help.

Don't drink any water directly from the faucet.

Hurricane season usually dies down by the end of September. The waters in the Gulf of México usually start cooling down in late September. Good news is, there's a cold front going through the US right now, so I think fall will start a little early. If in the event there is a hurricane, the possibility of it effecting Mexico City or Monterey are quite low and the effect would be that of a tropical storm. Which would be like a regular thunderstorm, with more rain, winds aren't that strong.

Oh yeah, bring water if you can. Mostly everyone has already mentioned it. If not, they have bottled water you can buy. Last time I was in Monterey was a couple of years ago, there's bottled water in every store. Mexicans don't even drink their own water, you shouldn't either. DON'T DRINK TAP WATER!

Don't worry, I don't drink tap water anywhere outside Finland :D I even wash my teeth with bottled water in most Asian countries :D

How about the temperature in Mexico in october? Shorts and t-shirts, only wishful thinking? :)
