The question is simple.
If you weren't a Queen fan and somebody were about to present a speech on them what would you want to hear them say or present? Keep in mind the audience might not even know who Queen are, or in some instances even dislike them.

That's definetly an important thing to mention, but beyond that what would someone want to actually know?
I'd be prepared for people not to like them. You'll get sneers and jeers from some, and some will not know them. People will enjoy it if you mention things they wouldn't know, like most people I speak to assume Freddie wrote all the songs, including WWRY, and tell them Queen did more than BoRap, WWRY/WATC, ANOBTD etc.

Those were some great suggestions. My presentation will consist of a powerpoint presentation. We're allowed to use audio, but we only have a total of 5-7 minutes to do our presentation. It's also supposed to be an informative speech, so we're not allowed to persuade. We have to stick to the facts.
I'm sticking to the idea that Queen's music is diverse. I want the audience aware that their music varied from classical to vaudeville. For classical, I'd proabably relate to Who Wants To Live Forever or maybe, God forbid, Bohemian Rhapsody. I'd also like to make aware of their opera influences in especially the song It's A Hard Life. I'd maybe throw in Stone Cold Crazy for the fact they were indeed a ROCK BAND.
The sad part about this presentation is that I only have those five to seven minutes to do this. I'll probably have to stick to just three songs and some how sum up Queen's music within it, which seems impossible.
What sort of presentation tool will you have…. Eg: TV and Video? Ect ect…. You can use these tools to your advantage. Even if you could get hold of a projector and do a powerpoint presentation… man that would kick ass, you could use proper example of footage….

I've just done a presentation on them today to my English class and half of them have never heard of Queen so I told them:
*Who they are
*What type of music they sing
*Why I like them
*What they achieved
*Why they stopped making albums as a group (Freddie died)
*How different they were to each other (eg Brian likes space and Freddie likes antiques)
*And I played a song and showed pictures

I see... Perhaps if it aint to much trouble, some sort of remix that can highlight the peaks of a a variety of songs. Take for example, More of Jazz.. at the end it has that remix of all the songs, you could fit quite a few examples in there to of your own.
5-7 min.. Man thats perfect timing.. I think you could do wonders with it..
Remember, you getting there attention and you dont wnna loose em, so make it fun..
yeah there are mnay great facts about them so its just a matter of selecting what ones you want to fill people in with.

Well, most people that I've met, have heard of WWAC, WWRY, and Bohemian Rhapsody, yet 50% of the time, they don't know who wrote them. If you mention those songs, and then go on to point out some of Queen's great, but not well known (at least, to non-Queen fans), songs (i.e. Flick of the Wrist, Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy, etc).

^I have to agree with her. I think you should mention Bo Rhap, Champions, and WWRY but also include songs like It's a Hard Life, Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy, and others. I hope it goes well, Ramirez. :)
Queen suffered a period of hammering by the press in the 80's and were basically slagged off at every opportunity. It is definately worth mentioning how the band has influenced many of today's successful acts (Franz Ferdinand, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Scissor Sisters etc.).
I don't know if you have seen the Classic Albums DVD of the making of A Night At The Opera? Anyone viewing this cannot do anything but admire Queen as musicians and this would be a good tact to take in a presentation - their expertise as musicians.

That's a great idea and I've already decided to mention quite a few names at the end of my presentation. I hope the audience will have some sort of reaction, whether it be good or bad I don't care!
