Yes, for many people that may be the case, but in the long run, it's not quite that simple.
As long as we're at a forum where lossy sharing is permitted and where the majority are gearing towards lossless sharing whenever possible, mp3 is just fine when there is no alternative (as has been stated numerous times previously). And when it comes to studio demos, that usually is the case. Spend a few months (or even years) contacting people to trade for uncirculated lossless demos. After someone has spent that long trying to acquire them, they're not going to want to share them for free. They'll save the lossless versions for a trade (or for themselves), and circulate the lossy ones. That's just the way these things work.
However, when it comes to material where the lossless version is readily available (i.e. most live material), that's when the lossless version should spread.
If you or anyone else would like to discuss this, let's make it an informative and mature discussion, free of vulgarity and personal attacks.
