Queen + Genesis + Kevin Ayers

In the Archives 67-75 Genesis Box Set, there is a reproduction of a 1970 concert poster billing Queen and Genesis supporting Kevin Ayers. Does anyone know anything about that ? I haven't found anything on queenconcerts and google.

Roger Taylor was considered by Peter Gabriel and co to be the follow-up to their former drummer, before Phil Collins joined the group.

It certainly does. Hopefully Peter Gabriel will leave his musical industry shattering projects for a moment to do a Reunion Tour. When Collins said he would gladly play the drums and "let Peter" be the singer for Genesis' 2007 tour he surely meant it. He looked bored out of his mind during the whole tour ! And we as Queen fans appreciate the luck when all original members of a great band are alive and well.

That said, do you confirm that an early line up of Queen shared a stage with Genesis ?

Not that I'm doubting you, I'm doubting anybody in the music industry, including Peter Gabriel, would mistake Roger for a Prog Rock drummer.

Aaah! Queen and Genesis without a doubt my two favourite bands of all times!!Especially Gabriel era Genesis!That surely would be a dream show especially in 1970.Although I thought our boys weren't gigging quite yet,although I know that they were out there a few years before the first album.So I guess it's possible.By the by I love what Genesis is doing with the release of there whole catalog in surround sound with DVD's included with each release,of all kinds of goodies.I wonder why only ANATO has gotten the treatment .Hell in my opinion every album up to and including The Game should be getting the kind of treatment that Genesis is giving there back catalog!!!

I've seen the same thing said, but it's from Roger's Wikipedia article. What the original source is, I don't know. I'm taking this one with a grain of salt until it's proved by someone/thing a little more trustworthy than Wikipedia.

I don't know anything about the show itself, but I think it was from early '71. Any chance you could post a scan, so I can add it to my website? :)

There is an article on queencuttings.com from 1975 that mentions it.

Well, Roger DID play drums for Genesis at their last show with Phil in 1993, during the Cowdray Ruins charity show that also had him and John (as "Queen"), Pink Floyd, and Eric Clapton.

Yes, it's 09.01.1971 Ewell, UK, quite a "famous" gig (remember Barry Mitchell's fake recording? :)

I was surprised to see that this info is missing on my website because I did read about it on several sites back in the 90's (Andy's Queen site I think, also Thomas Zeidler's concertography). I will correct it ASAP.

Could someone possible upload the concert where Roger drummed for Genesis (1993)

I don't know the setlist, all I remember is that they did songs like Turn it on Again and Invisible Touch.


Too bad they didn't play Hogweed or Suppers Ready :(
