Hi guys, im a newish fan of Queen, and have asked people what is best to get, but ive been swamped with heaps! So, what do you guys recommend for someone who wants the best of Queen (greatest hits not included) eg. cds. dvds, etc

Queen 2, best album ever...
yeah, queen II. and A night at the opera and a day at the races.
I think there are a number of different ways to view this - and a number of possible answers.
If I were starting out - I'd go back to the beginning...start with the first album (Queen)and work your way up. That way you can hear how their styles changed and evolved.
Otherwise I'd go with anything from the 70's...perhaps start with the middle...A Night at the Opera, A Day at The Races (1975/76 - get these first !) and work 'out/either side' from that...move to Sheer Heart Attack (1974), then News of the World (1977)...then if you like what you hear - tackle Queen II (1974).
For the non-fans or newbies - I think Queen II might be a bit overwhelming at first - if you're looking for more mainstream stuff first. The other albums have more 'hits' than Queen II (aside from Seven Seas of Rhye).
This may be a little bit of a criss-cross pattern but Queen II should be enjoyed and perhaps might be better to hear the other stuff first ?? Perhaps that sounds odd - I don't think so however.

I'd start with Hot Space right off the bat. Then go backwards and listen to The Game, Jazz, News, Races, Opera, etc.
Avoid the Made In Heaven - Feel Sad for Freddie altogether.

My first two Queen albums after GH1 were Hot Space and A day at the Races. By listening to these you'd get the far most sides from the Queen spectrum and you won't even believe they are the same band. Throw in songs with japanese and spanish lyrics, Brian's best rocker (TYMD), Roger's best track IMHO (Drowse), a UK #1 Hit (UP) and some of Freddie's best compositions (STL, MW) and you're in for a treat.

DVDs... Go Wembly '86, and Live Aid if you havn't seen them. Brilant stuff.
As for c.ds... Jazz is fun, A Night At The Opera, and Innuendo.
