This list really doesn't make sense to me. There are way worse lyricists. What about Eminem?

Doing, doing, doing"

Yeah, I have. Eminem's lyrics are better then most urban artists.

Some of my absolute favourite songwriters are on this list...I consider Ian Anderson a poet of high order, Neil Peart is a delight, Paul McCartney is a genius without par. And poor Jim Morrison...I'm sorry, the writer of such lines as "Catacombs, nursery bones, winter women growing stones," "Optical promise" and "Cancel my subscription to the resurrection" deserves to be ranked amongst rock's greatest and most accomplished lyricists. "I loved you the best...better than all the rest...," "I took a face from the ancient gallery and I walked on down the hall...," "Rugs lash out their lizards tongues..."...pure awesomeness. [/QUOTE]
Exactly. Jim Morrison is pure genius.

Where's David Lee Roth and Steven Tyler?
btw, Jon Anderson should be higher up (and I like Yes)
Lists are lists. Generally one person's opinion (just like these words are).

:O Oh NO! My two favourite Andersons! ;_;
"Bring a song for the evening
Clean brass to flash the dawn
across these acres glistening
like dew on a carpet lawn
In these dark towns folk lie sleeping
as the heavy horses thunder by
to wake the dying city
with the living horseman's cry" ( Ian ;) )

Want the worst lyrics? Here ya go:
Are you ready Steve? Uh-huh
Andy? Yeah
Mick? Okay
Alright fellows - let's go!
Oh it's been getting so hard
Living with the things you do to me
My dreams are getting so strange
I'd like to tell you everything I see
Oh and see a man at the back as a matter of fact
His eyes are as red as the sun
And the girl in the corner let no one ignore her
Cause she thinks she's the passionate one
Oh Yeah! It was like lightning
Everybody was frightning
And the music was soothing
And they all started grooving
CHROUS
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah-Yeah-Yeah
And the man in the back said everyone attack
And it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said boy I want to warn you
It'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Oh reaching out for something
Touching nothing's all I ever do
Oh I softly call you over
When you appear there's nothing left of you
And the man in the back is ready to crack
As he raises his hands to the sky
And the girl in the corner is everyone's woman
She could kill you with a wink of her eye
Oh Yeah! It was electric
So prefectly hectic
And the band started leaving
Cause they all stopped breathing
CHORUS Repeat
Oh Yeah! It was like lightning
Everybody was frightning
And the music was soothing
And they all started grooving
CHORUS Repeat
It's it's a ballroom blitz
It's it's a ballroom blitz
It's it's a ballroom blitz
Yeah, it's a ballroom blitz

In todays terms, Eminem is a master lyricist.
He just has absolutely nothing worth saying.

I don't like those kind of lists
David Crosby doesn't deserve to be here, only for "Triad" a great song

Hmmm... it is quite addictive, but did you read the lyrics? ;-P
yeah...i remember I posted this list up a while back. I voiced my anger about how they put Rush drummer/lyricist Neil Peart at #2 when his stuff is some of the deepest, complex masterpieces anyone could ever write.
The Rush lyrics posted before (from the epic track "The Fountain Of Lamneth" off of their 1975 album Caress Of Steel) are just an example of the majesty of Peart's imagination. It is because of him that Rush has its many excellent tracks (such as "Limelight", "Roll The Bones", "Far Cry", and, of course, "2112").
You wanna talk about bad lyricists? Fergie, Kevin Federline, Rihanna, and about 75% of the hip-hop artists out there, to name just a few.
Yeah. I said it. They suck lyrically AND musically. Their devastatingly dreadful rhymes tear through the eardrums of the listener, and either brainwash him/her into liking their crap, or killing them in the process. Either way, it's bad for the listeners.
Besides, the list is biased. It seems they'll attack the artists that don't fit in with the times, the artists who are the true holders of the essence that creates music.
