Oh, well.

No room for rational discussion, then.

Thanks...

University, you spac.
I actually love that.

PS. If someone gives me five bucks, I'll top that shade of lipstick you've got on there.
How could you possibly top that?
he CAN write evrything he wants when it's on his personal site.
what's wrong about it?
Brian HAS accomplished alot in the past and yes, he may be the nicest guy in rock but, he does NOT like people to disagree with him; having personal experence of correspondance with the man, I will say that he is principled but, certainly in the case we corresponded over, his principles, I believe, can be misplaced. He does seem to get over sensitive when people criticise him or disagree.
I'll actually be more specific - My son is a diabetic, Brian had a particular issue over animal experimentation with which I strongly disagreed. My son's health is dependant on emerging therapies. Needless to say an exchange of emails followed where we agreed to disagree. Throughout the correspondence, I can honestly say that Brian made no attempt whatsoever to see my point of view.
So, yes, he does deserve a degree of criticism over the causes he deems important because we are not all in the position to promulgate our points of view in such a forum and if he fails to balance the arguement, he only weakens his position over each issue
(sorry to go on a bit, but hope I shed some light on the discussion)
[QUOTENAME]ANAGRAMER wrote: [/QUOTENAME]he may be the nicest guy in rock but, he does NOT like people to disagree with him;
(...) He does seem to get over sensitive when people criticise him or disagree.
I agree, although IMVHO much of his sensitivity is to the form, not the substance, of the criticism:
some kinds of wording often seem to trigger an instant antagonising gut-reaction from him,
while other kinds of wording give his brain time to consider matters and respond more objectively.

However, you are right: that, combined with some definite stubborness,
IS a major personality flaw in an otherwise extremely agreeable individual.

Sorry about the circumstances of that discovery...

Looks like we have another one of those overly obsessive Freddie Mercury fans.
People like that give me the creeps considering that Jill Dando was killed by one of those Freddie wackos.

I hope Brian May has a fuckin' bodyguard.

Do watch the news at all?

He has a re-trial, evidence used was crap basically, sounds like he was used as a scapegoat.
Why give credence to a poll of male singers that doesn't have Lennon or McCartney listed in the top ten? These things are a joke, anyway.

I still reckon he did it.
[QUOTENAME]Freddie's #1 Fan Forever wrote: [/QUOTENAME]Hi Guys,
It is time to review the latest evidence of Brian May's out-of-control ego. Let me explain, OK? So a couple of days ago, Freddie was voted as the Greatest Rock Legend ever. You know about how he likes to flaunt certain poll-related things on his web site. Whenever he is voted #39 or whatever there is always some lavish display of it on his site. For instance, there are all kinds of pictures showing him as a chancellor for some school over in England. There is also a long discussion about how we need to save whales.

Is there anything there to congratulate Freddie though? Of course not. He is obviously pissed that HE did not make it on the list as well and so he does not want to mention it along with all of the really trivial things he posts up there all of the time.

By the way, all of this chancellor stuff does not help him in any way. It only serves to elucidate the fact that he has accomplished nothing over the past 16 years.
I would like to see what you have done in your life...not much from the sound of it.
[QUOTENAME]Sir GH

ah yeah
wrote: [/QUOTENAME]

How ironic, since the title of this topic is misspelled "Brain".
Apparently that is how you spell his name. He even has it on his own website (note the letter part)

http://www.brianmay.com/brian/briannews/briannewsnov07.html#19

And just incase it disappears, here is how it actually appeared on his site (also note the various amounts of incorrect spelling. For instance there is "Grenpeace", "sumit" instead of suBmit, acknowedge instead of acknowLedge and confirmaton instead of confirmatIon")

"JOIN BRIAN MAY, WRITE TO HEADS OF STATE TO "MAKE THE CALL FOR WHALES"

Brian May has taken part in the following initiative, and would like readers here to know about this opportunity set up by Greenpeace to write to Heads of State and protest about the plight of the whales at the hands of the Japanese government and their whaling fleet. Please visit: www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/oceans/whaling/great-whale-trail/make-the-call-for-whales and sign the letter provided there. Takes but a few seconds.
You can also register for Whale Mail to get updates and read up about The Great Whale Trail HERE,plus an opportunity to join Grenpeace's exciting grassroots fundraising group: Whale Defenders.
"Tell Governments: Make the call for whales
If the countries that oppose whaling were putting one tenth of the effort into ending it that the Japanese government invests in maintaining a sham research programme, whaling would have ended by now, and Greenpeace would not have to be out in the Antarctic waters challenging the harpoons. Here's a letter you can send to the heads of Germany, US, Chile and Brazil, so they call on Japan's Prime Minister to stop whaling.
Please sign the end of the message below and send it to the heads of Germany, The US, Chile and Brazil, so they phone Japan’s Prime Minister.
(4474 Messages have been sent since Friday, 23 November. Help us reach 10,000.)''

Simply fill out your e-mail address and type your nameat the end of the letter and hit Sumit, then acknowedge a confirmaton e-mail, which you will receive which authorises your mail to be sent.
Here is Brian May's submission today. He would be delighted if you joined him in sending your's too and help Greenpeace achieve their target.

Dear Heads of State,

On Sunday 18 November the Japanese whaling fleet left port in order to sail to the Southern Ocean and kill over a thousand whales, including endangered fin whales and vulnerable humpback whales. Their "research" has been condemned by scientists worldwide, and even the International Whaling Commission - of which you are a member - has urged Japan to end its so-called scientific whale hunt in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary, because the results of that research are simply not needed.

Greenpeace is currently pursuing the fleet from Japan to the Southern Ocean where they will put themselves between the harpoons and the whales to stop individual whales being killed.

I know that your government has opposed the Japanese whaling programme in the past, but now we are facing their biggest hunt since the moratorium on commercial whaling came into force nearly twenty years ago. And I fear this will only escalate further.

At the departure of the fleet ceremony in Shimonoseki on Sunday, the head of the Japanese Fisheries Agency, Shuji Yamada, said "The scientific research we carry out will pave the way to overturning the moratorium on commercial whaling, which will better help us to utilize whale resources."

^ just to let to know Brian (or Jen) has now changed the post and corrected the spelling of his name on his website. Well done!!!
