most here wont realise how big he was in the 70's,a massive star to us kids back then,maybe the most recognised person in the world around '76 and '77.all of us wanted to be him at school and own anything that was associated with him.his stunts were just amazing.i owned the wind up toy stunt bike when i was about 7 and played with it until i wore the damn thing out.i was only thinking about him the day before yesterday as he was in the news for threatening to sue one of those [c]rap stars that mocked his image in a music video.
some people are falsely claimed to be legends when they die, Evel Knievel is not one of them.he does deserve the accolade,another childhood hero bites the dust. RIP and may wherever he be now have a decent motorbike so he can leap from cloud to cloud and scare the crap out of the angels ;-]

My dad was exactly like that. He told me about how he could not tear himself away from his Evel action figure/stunt bike. It's thanks to my dad for telling me about his childhood that I was able to learn about Evel and how unbelievably cool (and probably crazy) he was.

I wish I could go back and time and see him. :-P
