As an example, the same can be said of the Jewish peoples. There are those who are geographically 'Jewish' (of whatever religious persuasion) and those who are ideologically 'jewish' (of whatever race or nationality). I guess (in a world-wide context) finding a 'Jerusalem Jew' (ie: tied to both ideology and geography) would be quite rare. (I know this has been simplified - but it makes the point).

Second: Freddie was NOT an Iranian in either sense.

Ideolgically, his lifestyle alone (apart from his song lyrics) demonstrate that he was diametrically opposed to those of the stereotypical Muslim Sharia persuasion. If it boiled down to a 'war of ideas', being a bohemian artist, I believe Freddie would support the 'freedom of ideas' school, rather than the enforced 'terrorist' brigade.

Geographically; Freddie was actually born in Zanzibar - which although it is true to say was once governed under Iranian rule - was never in itself Iranian. (This is like saying Brian May is really Italian - as london was once dominated by Roman law, or that the French are really German because they were once under Nazi occupation).

Freddie was born into a British subject middle class family, schooled in India, then travelled to England.

Freddie was as much an Iranian as Borat was Kazakhstani.

in that sense no one is from any country, everyone is from earth right?

you already know the facts, his name was iranian, his parents were, he says it in interviews etc.

btw you think somehow that you have to follow the religious laws in iran to be iranian? lol

thats the most stupid thing ive ever heard!!

people are individuals, there are all sorts of iranians just like there are all sorts of people in every country, they are INDIVIDUALS who are different and have different views on things.

you think all iranians are muslims or follow it? there are MANY iranians who dont even believe in religion, you are very narrow minded.

freddies roots are in iran and he is genetically an iranian and thats a fact.
Genetically Iranian? I'm sorry, but hwo can someone be Gentetically Iranian?

No was has an Iranian Gene.

Stop stating things as facts when they are not only opinions, but in this case, factually false.
in that case the black people and white are gentically exactly the same, thats why they look the same i guess....

stop living in denial, ive stated all the facts
No, But white people aren't genetically the same, an example is me and a friend, i was born here, as where my family for generations back. as was he, et he has darker skin than mine and darker hair.

and black people, some black people are darker than others.

also, if you are black or white, if you are born in england, regardless where your parents are born, you recieve an english passport (I Think!!). Im not saying its right, but if youu want to go by facts then thats your choice, just dont pick and choose, or make them up.

For the record, this doesnt reflect my opinion.

people have origins you know, a jap guy is jap both by genetics and location, its his roots, everyone has roots

freddies roots were iranian, he was iranian and said it himself, his name was iranian, his parents were iranian and you are trying to tell him he isnt?

its like i would come and deny that you are from wherever you are.

there are different types of people, black, arabs, white, persian etc and that cant be denied.

just because you live in a different country doesnt make you someone that is from that country, it has more to do with g
whats ius solis?
Well, jus soli or ius soli (the correct Latin term) is a person's right to have a country's citizenship if he/she is born there, and the parents are not that country's citizens. Sheesh! you were supposed to know everything. I'm disappointed in you.

HAHAHAHAHA! You're all so very entertaining.

Firstly, yes Freddie was born in Zanzibar, so on paper, he was Tanzanian.

Secondly, his parents and people were Parsees, a group of Persians who emigrated from what is NOW Iran more than 1000 years ago to INDIA.

So now we have to argue about the length of time we believe it takes to naturalize a people to their new chosen home.

American Indians are descended from Siberian Mongols who crossed the Bering Straight some 40,000 years ago, but an idiot could argue that they are still Siberian, even though the country didn't have a name back then. But by that rationale, we're all African, because human beings evolved around Ethiopia before roaming the planet, settling down and having the elements and the level of UV exposure gradually change their facial features and skin tones.

I think in the end though, if you asked Freddie, he'd whip out his British passport, flash it at you, and then tell you to fuck off.
Thank you, God bless you, sweet dreams you lot of tarts, Good-bye!
[QUOTENAME]Treasure Moment wrote: [/QUOTENAME]
[QUOTENAME]Leaky Luke wrote: [/QUOTENAME]so you mean a japanease guy born in sweden is swedish?

He would have a Swedish passport if he would stay in Sweden. So yes that would mean he is Swedish with most likely Japanese blood in him.

My parents were born in Russia and I was born in the Netherlands.. that makes me 100% Dutch cause I was raised here with no Russian influences.
that theory doesnt work, if so then a black man could be german for example and thats just silly, its genetic! certain people belong to certain genetics
wait...black people can't be german? Than what about my Black skinned german sister-in-law? She was born in germany, her parents were born in Germany, went to german school...speak german..and are german citizens....but she doesnt exist?

Persian and Iranian are not the same thing. Persian is an ethnicity. Iranian is a nationality. To be an Iranian, one must be born in Iran or have been naturalized. Freddie Mercury never set foot in Iran, let alone was born there or held Iranian citizenship. If you can post one interview where Freddie claimed he was Iranian, I will personally write a check in the amount of $1000 US to your shitty band. But you can't do it, because he never said it and you're too stupidly pig-headed to (a) admit you don't know what you're talking about and (b) concede that it is, in fact, you who is the stupid fuck. Educate yourself, you idiot!
OK, I haven't posted here since not long after the QueenRocker migration (I couldn't even tell you how many years that makes it) but I do still lurk here occasionally and I have made a new account just to say that "the reason the guy is from japan is because the people with similar genetics to him are gathered in a place called japan." is the funniest sentence I have heard in quite a while.
I don't care where he came from. Or his parents. All i care for is that he was a brilliant composer, a never equalled singer, performer and entertainer. That he has given the world an enormous treasure of still inspiring music. That he was a sensitive, intelligent, warm-hearted caring and giving person. He could have been from Timboektoe, Swahili or Belgium, i wouldn't make it such a big issue. All the swearing and ugly things and faul language that you so-called "Queen-fans" use in this topic, would make him very sad if he were to read it. He wouldn't want people like you to be his fans. Freddie was a wise man. He stood for quality. And you lot....is this the very best that you can come up with? It is such a shame, that you lower yourselves to this absolute lowest of lowest levels that a human being can find himself on.... No, i know for a fact that Freddie would be taking distance from people like you. How dare you call yourselves a Queen-fan? Writing about this, and like this, is way too uncivilised, stupid and not Queen-worthy at all. And think about it....what would it bring to you, or what would it cost you, if Freddie was from Zanzibar? What is the point? What do you gain from it, defending your false vision and narrow-minded ideas and aggressive unjust defences? Nothing! It doesn't matter where Freddie came from. All that matters is his music. Get a life. And leave this site and forum. You do NOT belong here.
lifelong loyal and dedicated Queenfan.
Freddie's parents moved to Zanzibar from India..Freddie was born in Zanzibar..His parents were of Parsee (Persian) origin..Persia is now what he call Iran.
I love you,Beata!

Okay, first, its "foul" language, and second, Freddie swore like a sailor.
