62 doesn't mean a thing anno 2008. When an act sells 400 units in the first week it enters top 5 in the Netherlands.
Last year a total of 1 000 000 singles where sold in the Netherlands. 10 Years ago this was around 8 000 000.
Yesterday EMI said that it is very likely they will stop releasing cd singles in 2009. The current no.1 in the Dutch charts (Mark Ronson feat. Amy Whinehouse) is the first no.1 wich isn't available as a cd single. It's a download-only track.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Queen is right back where they belong: in the charts, but don't get all excited by all this 'cause it really doens't mean a thing. They probably sold 30 units or something (to the hardcore Queen collectors who buy it all) and without radio airplay and downloads I expect them to be out of the charts next week.

Thats great! Better than 90 which we got in the UK! Which still makes me feel that releasing that as the first single was a big mistake and has sort of dampened the impact the first 'proper' studio single could have had.
I think QP have gone about this the right way. Does anyone agree with me?

They should have released it on 7" vinyl. Than I would have bought it.
