I like how these 'out-fakes' help me appreciate how the song developed.
It is easy to imagine a Freddie 'piano demo' being worked on by the rest of the band.
I was also surprised at how complete the track sounded without Brian's guitar - but appreciate his contribution even more.

Even deconstucted tracks contain some hidden gems.

Valencia does a lllllleeeeeegaaaaaatooooo version of this song, I was listening to it the other day while trying not to lose control of my car in a blizzard. Made me feel like I was driving in slow motion.

It also seemed like he was playing up the intricacies of the song -- "look folks, it's so damned hard to cover this perfectly, I'm going to have to play it at half speed."

Listening to its components now, I know exactly what he was going for -- this thing is beautiful.

I'm trying to think how to work this into the podcast without becoming repetitive -- I have an idea of my own, and I'll definitely try to represent everyone's efforts (thanks, Outu-Tigon.)

Remix compos usually don't work like you plan 'em, so I think it's best to let this happen naturally...any suggestions?

Is Outu-Tigon supposed to be a parody of my nickname? :P

has anybody ever thought of cleaning up and speed correct the KYWB-version of KQ (brian's innuendo-us-radio-tour-impromptu)and equalize the overdubbed guitarparts so they could be added to the 24track-master ?
just an idea.

Bit of a request for you, inu-liger...a "live mix." Basically the way they played it in their medleys--the entire song up to the guitar solo, and the final note of the guitar solo hangs to segue into another song (or, in this case, a gradual ending fade). Definitely would be cool to hear that in studio form--right now, it's purely my imagination at work, as Freddie starts singing and other instruments come in quickly around that two-minute mark.

I will see what I can do.
But it will have to wait a while as I am very busy with other musical work (my band), and I haven't even completed the other remix I'm working on of KQ with my band mate yet, let alone the 5.1 mix.

:)

I don't think that's really possible.
It's a good idea though, but the quality of the recording available is really poor compared to the studio version, as far as I can recall. (No FLAC's are up of it even?)

What do you mean?

how much you stereo panorated the 24 channels
Example:
bass amp: centre
guitar 4: part1:100%left part 2:100%right
end solo: 100%left

Then post the project file and I'll post the details. Or was your answer just to cover the fact that you don't want to say?

Fair enough, re: project file. Guess I can't be an ass and withhold it.
Just a reminder though, this can be only used with Adobe Audition 1.5 and above, and to have it locate the files (I did not change any file names, so there should not be a problem).

Feel free to tweak it and upload any updated AA session files.

If the masters are ever leaked, sure.
