As pointed out by Bohardy, my John Deacon related wind up appeared in a special Queen edition of Q which was released in early 2005.
I remember seeing it in a magazine shop in Belfast and having no intention of buying it. However I picked it up and had a flick through it, of course stopping to read the John Deacon section in detail. To say I was surprised to see some rubbish I'd written on the internet make it into Q magazine is something of an understatement.
I still have the magazine; the quote is:
"Much to Deacon watchers' chagrin, a rumoured appearence on TV's Through The Keyhole turned out to be entirely without substance".

That's not the point of being a collector.
I trade bootlegs myself and if I have a gem in my possession I wouldn't share it. As nobody would take me seriously anymore as a reliable trader.
This has nothing to do with "so everybody can enjoy". It ruins the fun of collecting, that's for sure.

That's well rubbish though. I'd love to hear every song Queen ever did. If Brian came to me personally and gave me a boxset with all the previously unheard stuff Queen had, I'd upload it to the internet so other fans could hear.

It might have seemed mean spirited to people at the time, but what few people acknowledged was that, nested in that mp3, was a part Face it Alone. It was the first time a snippet of that song had been shared in the Announce section in any shape or form! Of course, it was a little buried by slow-motion Bo Rhap, but you can't have everything and I didn't exactly have permission to be throwing my snippet around...
Since the song came out later anyway, it's moot. Still, it felt good to be sharing AND pranking at the same time.

It was some guy on the late-great audiogalaxy.com website, who really pulled a good wind-up on the numpties who posted on that website. Someone asked about John's solo work and he posted a very detailed description of this particular album, describing different versions, one of them I recall was described as "includes a fold-out poster" etc.
I did however do my share (along the likes of Friedchicken and numerous other funny zoners, who I believe came up with "Red Dirt" etc.) of fueling the reputation of this legend.
