Guess who's nominated for another Best Rock Instrumental Grammy...

RUSH!

For the 5th time in their near-34 year history, Rush is nominated for a Best Rock Instrumental Award. Man, I hope they win it!

But...as history will show, they probably won't win. Here's how I know:

- in 1982, "YYZ" (probably their best instrumental) was nominated. It lost to The Police's "Behind My Camel".

- in 1991, they were again nominated, this time for "Where's My Thing? (Part IV, "Gangster of Boats Trilogy"). They lost again, this time to Eric Johnson's "Cliffs Of Dover".

- in 1994, their third nomination was for "Leave That Thing Alone". They lost to Pink Floyd's "Marooned".

- ten years later (2004) they were nominated again for "O Baterista", a Neil Peart drum solo. They were snubbed ONCE AGAIN, thanks to "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow" by Brian Wilson.

This year, they are up against Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Bruce Springsteen, and...*gulp*...METALLICA.

Yeah. Rush may not come out of this one alive lol

Okay let's not get started on who is better than who...besides I don't even know who Treasure Moment is, so i'm not going to say anything about them.

As much as I like Rush, I highly doubt they will win a grammy. They're just not mainstream enough for major awards outside of Canada. That's not a bad thing, in fact I think it is better for them as it would mean that they would lose their uniqueness. It is nice of the Grammy dudes to think of Rush, though.

My guess is that the Boss will win this year. I haven't hear his nominated track, but he seems like a safe bet.

Sometimes I wonder if I really like their instrumentals because they're actually good, or if it's just because he's not singing.
