Here's something I've been fiddling around with for the past couple days for all the John fans out there. It's something I'd call a "Beatnik Mix" for Killer Queen.
This mix puts more focus on the bass tracks of the song. I also sampled some of the finger snaps from the original intro and used them throughout this mix in place of the drums. The drums and guitars have been completely removed, as well as some of the more extravagant vocals so that the song now takes a minimalist approach.
(Alright, I say "removed" even though this was made with the multi-tracks. Not trying to take any extra credit, just bad at explaining things.)
I hope some of you enjoy this! It was a joy to work with such fabulous original tracks (:

ThankYou, I like it. You know, when you think of Killer Queen, it's obvious you think of the Piano & Freddies vocals first, so it's really good that you have done a bass mix, John's bass line sometimes gets forgotten. well done.

I like it, but I only hear the bass instead of 'feeling' it too.
The bass sounds a bit 'flat' or''empty'. :)

That's true. Bass could be improved with a more powerful sound (like the bass parts in Don't try suicide for example). Could you make something for this ?

Thanks for the positive response, everybody, I'm glad you all actually like my first mix so much. I've listened to what a couple of you were saying and tweaked the bass a bit to give it what I guess is a "fuller" sound overall. Hopefully you can feel this one!

Yes it's better. ;)
Did you use the equalizer to make it sound fuller?
If you've downloaded the same multi-track version that I have, with the instruments names, you maybe should try to use the 'Bass amp' instead of 'Bass di'? (I'm guessing you're using 'bass di'?)
I'm not sure if I'm right, but to me the 'bass di' sounds a bit dryer than 'bass amp'.

Just my opinion. :) [/QUOTE]
That would result in some room noise from the drums I think. It's even slightly present in this new version which I don't like as much as the first ;)
In my opinion you had it right the first time, TerrorOfKnowing. The bass in this one kinda hurts my ears. I had to turn it down and lost the fun and perfect balance of the first. You can't please everyone I guess :)

The drumnoise is in both versions. ;)
Those sounds are from the 'bass di' track, the 'bass amp' track is totally isolated, so noise-free. ;)
That's why I think that he used the same track in version 2, but adjusted a few settings in the equalizer. :)

That's true ;)

Actually, I used both bass tracks in both versions of the mix, figured each had its own nuances and since they were both in the original version I shouldn't separate them. The drums didn't bother me all that much because you can only really notice them in a couple of places and even then it was only the cymbals and they sort of added to the song anyway.
You're right though, on the second version I did do some adjusting of the equalizer settings as well as layering the bass parts on top of each other again.
I also prefer my first mix of it (with headphones on I thought the bass was fine and that's how I was usually listening to it since my computer speakers are pretty weak) but you asked for something you could feel so that's what I tried to give you.
