Greg Brooks had a session this year where he played a few items from Brian's own archive rather than the Queen archive.
He played an unreleased track from 2001 (someone will no doubt remember what it was called and post the info here), "ain't nobody teasin around" live from the montreux rock festival - though he didn't know if it was 2001 or 2005, an unreleased theme from an abandoned TV show called "The Strip" and a few individual tracks from the master tape of "On My Way Up" (ie, vocals, guitar, backing vocs). He also wasted 11 minutes playing the entirity of Brians A-B test of the Burns guitar from the CD which came with Guitarist magazine (or whichever it was).

Regards Queen news, he stated quite catagorically that no work had been done on the Anthology boxset in the last 3 years - he had been pulled off that project to catalogue the video archive and the fruits of that labour have resulted in the find of a lot of 16mm (and maybe 35mm) film including rushes of those promo videos shot on film and not video. He also said there was an immense amount of stuff from the mid to late 1970's (he mentioned 1977 as a specific date) so we may get a Led Zepplin style 70's DVD set at some point. He also said that this means there should be material included in the anthology boxset that wouldn't have been included had the boxset been produced 5 years ago.
As far as the boxset is concerned, there are NO defintive plans as to what format it will take. It could be a huge boxset of 30 discs, it could be a little boxset of 10 discs or it could be lots of little sets. No decision will be made on that until EMI tell Queen when they want the set. Obviously the "planned" 2009 release date isn't happening.

Greg said there would be a "November" release which would be a "biggie", but he wouldn't elaborate. I can't blame him as I'm sure he doesn't want to raise our hopes only for EMI (or Queen) to change their minds yet again a la "Singles Boxset".

We were also told that work had begun on a BBC Sessions release (of all 6 sessions) and there would be some great "extra" material on there as well.
Now, I'm putting 2 and 2 together and I reckon (hope) that when the BBC Sessions come out it will include Bob Harris' recording of The Champions video shoot (which was on film)....

I've also heard from other sources (so this is speculation) that the Hammersmith 75 show is planned for DVD release, but there is a problem with "Now I'm Here" on the master tape and Queen are trying to track down the 1976 Japanese TV transmission tape...

That's it.
If anyone else has anything else to add that I've missed, feel free.
I did not go this year so: thank you for this!
Wow, fantastic news - without the box set part, of course.
Thank you

nice, if it wasnt april fools day i'd belive you
Give over Cro. I'm too old for this April Fools day rubbish.
I can always delete and re-post this tomorrow if you like.
Hi Pootle, I've been there, too. Did we meet without recognizing? I was the one who interviewed Per Bartels, the chairman of the Belgian QFC during the first break.

Quite interesting speeches and Greg's promises ... hm, I think you have to take everything he says with a huge grain of salt.
... I'll be back again before it's time for sunny-down ...
Thanks, David, very interesting :) Personally, I don't hope for the WATC video shoot - that is just too good to be happening. The BBC tracks themselves will be a great release - hopefully with the unedited WWRY.
I do not want any google ads here.
I will believe it when I see it. We were promised the BBC tracks once before and it never happened, so I will not be holding my breath for it this time.

Don't you think unedited Ogre Battle ?

I will post a transciption of what Greg said in the next couple of days, also Spike & Jamie (for what worth)

peter Freestone I didn't bother listening to as he tells the same stories every year - Freddie tried to make tea with cold water once or something.

Bruce Murray went to school with Freddie, didn't call him "Bucky" kept in touch a little in th eearly 70s and now manages the Quireboys.
Looking forward to your transcript PG incase I got anything wrong.
I also spoke with greg afterwards, so some of what I posted is from that "quick" chat.

Nummer2 - I've no idea if we've met or not.
I'm afraid I didn't know Per Bartles was being interviewed so I can't put a face to you.
Don't worry pootle, I wasn't there at all, I was just preparing an April joke (supposed to come in a second post), but I didn't have the time to get back to the thread in time.

Btw, I don't know Per Bartels either ...

You all know what Queen should do starting next year in 2009? They need to start doing some audio releases of some concerts that have nothing to do with a concert film.

They should have some great shows in their archive, for example London'78 shows.

I didn't see anything "wrong" but could tell that you'd spoken to him off-stage. I wouldn't dare, he looks so unapproachable...

I starting writing it all up and got bored.

Greg, since you'll presumably have a look at this thread at some point, any objection to having your spoken word uploaded to the internet, with all musical content missing?
