So the world of children's television has lost another great.

I am sixteen and I grew up watching him on his programmes SMart, Scratchy And Co, See It Saw It, Insides Out.

Of course those who are adults amoungst us may not remember him but those who are my age I imagine will

Very sad indeed that he died in such tragic circumstances

Mark Speight rest in peace mate

If you remember Mark Speight please leave your tributes here
I'm just a musical prostitute my dear! FREDDIE MERCURY 1984
Of course I remember Mark.........

Fucking hell... When my mate told me over MSN, I literally cried.... This dude presented one of the best kid shows EVER!

They say it was suicide in the "Lite London" newspaper. :-/

Just awful.

i will probably get chastised for saying this but suicide is the cowards way out of dealing with lifes problems plus he wasnt fit to lace John Noakes shoes when it comes to childrens tv legends,so i wont shed any tears over this loser.
isnt innuendo an italian suppository? im gonna ride the wild wind! its_a_hard_life wrote:you nutcase you rule! joxer replies: but in a nice way :-]

wow that was really harsh, he really wasn't in a fit state of mind when he went missing, his famly say he had a total breakdown over the death of his girlfriend. apparently he couldn't bring himself to seek help so close to her death.. He really will be missed and remembered
by people my age who grew up with him, not only on SMart but also as the guy in the Professor Whizzs Chocolate bumpies adverts before that.
May peace be upon him.
Never liked the man, he creeped me out as a child. Oh well, RIP.

if his family were that worried about him why didnt they get him "sectioned" under the mental health act then so he could get the medical care he obviously needed?
so,now they have to deal with his death on their conscience too?
'pride before a fall' as the old saying goes.
what he did was a selfish act with no consideration for how they [the family] would feel.

You have to remember, that depression is an actual illness and if it isn't treated, can kill you. It's not really "selfish", in the same way that getting cancer and dying isn't selfish.
I don't think it's selfish at all. The man was confused and fucked in the brain.

When you are in that state of mind, you can't think of anyone else but getting out. People choose suicide, which is stupid. But to them, thats the only way out. Literally.

He probably hated his life without his girlfriend. He wanted to end it. And he did.

Still, very sad....
I've got to rule him out. No one in America knows him, so I'm not sure of his relevance in say China or Australia or somewhere else.

I say Big Deal.

But rest in peace, pal.
I loved the guy on SMart. Quite apart from being the only one who seemed to know what he was talking about he just seemed so...nice.

So yes, when depression leads to that it isn't selfish. It's just tragic. RIP.
I know it's well sad. He was the only presenter I liked on SMart, the others just really annoyed me especially Kirsten!
