I think the topic-starter hasn't grasped the fact that BM's priorities are different to his. If he responded to every request like this he would have no life whatsoever. And as someone who has interviewed one successful science fiction writer, I can guarantee you sometimes artists have indeed "moved on" and really don't want to talk about old stuff, only what's new and relevant to them. But you gotta realize this guy's touring with 2.5 hours of demanding set at 61 and cannot accommodate thousands of fans who expect 10 minutes of his time in exchange for a token of loyalty.
And copyright breaches aren't Brian's business anyway; his label employs lawyers to deal with that. Brian was most likely not aware of your letters, and QFC were being assholes telling you otherwise...

Yeah, I would assume that Jackie wrote to Brian's assistant, not Brian, about such a routine administrative-type matter. (But I'm just guessing here.) Assistants speak for their bosses all the time, so when Jackie said "Brian was interested" it might have really meant "Brian's assistant said it was a good idea to go ahead and send them that tape." It was nice to try to help him, but you shouldn't expect special treatment or notice because of it. A thank you note from someone on the staff would have been nice, but not receiving one is no big deal, and it is certainly not worth repeating here.
