I really think it's a stretch to compare them.
IMO, Def Leppard's glory years were largely thanks to Mutt Lang's production rather than the songwriting and performance. As soon as he leaves, they start tanking hard.

absolutely!. you only have to listen to what he did to his "newly-estranged" wife's musical sound to see what a genius he is...Shania has Lepps and AC/DC stamped all over her albums....
if there's a downside to his "production" it's that it all becomes very similar...

I like Def Leppard, but honestly just mentioning the term "Def Leppard" in most social situations elicits laughter. "Queen" of course is a different story....
