i wonder if there was such voices if the project wouldn't have the 'Queen'-name - and'd be called ... hum ... 'the noodels' or sth.
That's the whole point, isn't it?
They're choosing to carry on with the Queen name, and because of that decision they feel it isn't time to release the archive material just yet.
If they were calling themselves Noodels, it would be pretty obvious they were past the whole Queen phase, and they would be okay to release the archive material.

By themselves they aren't my solo artists, but they were a part of my favourite band with the four man line-up. There's no need to cheer something you don't like. ;)

Oh dear God, NO!
Not another one of these posts...
I'm not even bothering to make a comment on Q+PR haters anymore...
But seriously, Paul Rodgers is Chuck Norris with a British accent. One of these days, he's gonna end up killing us on a tour or something..

no Freddie, Brian, Roger and John were Queen
What we have is Queen+
The 2 are different yet sometimes the same.
There is nothing wrong with not liking the new direction.
Not liking Paul is not saying anything bad.
Jeff Scott Soto would have been better....IMO but maybe not yours.
That's Okay, I can live with that. shame many on this board can't live with anyone disagreeing with them.

I have a serious question for you, I hope you will answer it.
How would you feel if it were the other way around?
What would you say if Brian, Roger and Paul said in an interview they had recorded a new album together, but it would stay unreleased year after year. What if they came up with a new greatest hits album instead every Christmas, and refused to release that new material?
Would you still hope for them to continue on their chosen path for as long as they want to?
Would you still write such childish messages on Queenzone?

But that's the thing... nobody needs to give him a chance. He already is a legend, and that percentage of narrow-minded Queen fans aren't going to change that. Few people are in the club of rock royalty, and Paul Rodgers is one of them. He is the only person ever to have been in three platinum-selling bands. He doesn't need to prove himself to anyone. There are people who recognize this, and then there are those who are ignorant. There is no middle ground in this case.

Perfect.

Well now that you put it that way, I suppose I would get on here and be negative and cynical about absolutely everything they did. Also, I would constantly portray them as betraying the good name of Queen and I would be especially nitpicky and critical about what Brian says on his soapbox.
Perhaps if I did that enough it would then help lessen that feeling of entitlement that I have about what they owe me as a fan. After all, they surely haven't given enough.
Thanks for asking that question and getting me to see it from a different perspective. It's all so much clearer.

I did say SERIOUS question, but I guess it was too much to expect you answer it seriously.
I honestly think that (despite your overflowing sarcasm) you really would be negative and cynical here if that was the case.

Woooooo.... gotta love maximum sarcasm!
Just a thing I thought of.. when Brian and Roger did the Amsterdam show and the Queens jubilee it was labelled as Queen but as far as I remember no one objected then. And that sure as hell wasnt Queen, and bad aswell.
QPR is actually more of Queen than that. Still only two original members (if you discount Spike) but they are doing what they originally did in the band. No extra drummers, no pop star guest vocalists, no backing vocalists, a lot less backing musicians. Now they have a real rock singer with a great backcatalogue and legendary career of his own.
I would love to see John in the band, but he doesnt want to. No one of us knows why, but I for one dont believe that it has anything to do with him having opinions like "Its not queen without Freddie" and so on.
As far as Jamie is concerned he actually adds to the sound so I have no objection at all to having him on the tour.
Personally I find it rather strange how you can be a fan of a band and not want its members to release new music. We havent had any new songs in ten years so I think its about time. I can understand all the people who wants the box sets or a 70s concert. But if this album goes well it will sure create incentives for the band to release more backcatalogue products.
But anyway
All the best everyone!:)
[QUOTENAME]pootle1 wrote: [/QUOTENAME]As reported on QZ news page: "Paul Rodgers was recorded talking before a solo gig in the USA the other day. he talks about working in the studio with Queen the upcoming "WORLD" tour. It seams that the tracks on the new album are penned by Paul, Brian & Roger seperately, but gives a hint that they may start to write songs together at a later date. (another new album after Cosmos Rocks perhaps?)"
I will simply say that I'm now so sick and fed up with Queen and flippin Paul Rodgers, that I hope to God they RETIRE from being a working band after this studio album and tour in the hope that they might actually get on with doing some "proper" Queen stuff, whether it's 5.1'ing the remaining albums or releasing that anthology boxset we've been promised for 15 years plus!
I can just see that if they DO make another album together, then that will be another excuse for the boxset to be put back. I'll be flippin dead before I see that bugger!
Personnally after this upcoming tour I think they should release a box set of Paul Rodgers replacing Freddie on ALL of their back catalogue. Would make an excellent improvement in my opinion. Either that or get me to replace all of the vocal sections.

"We know some people will moan, 'Oh, Fred's not on it...' Of course he's not, you dickhead. If they want to know why we're bothering to do this, it's because we're still alive. It's quite simple. If they don't like it, just don't buy the record or come to the show."
Roger: "I hope [it is heavily scrutinized]; the worst thing on earth would be for it to come out with a whimper. For me, it's very important to prove that we are still a creative entity. We're a working band with something to offer, not just the old hits."
Brian: "I'm okay with the levels of expectation. That's life. We're confident that what we're planning to put in front of people is good enough."

Groundbreaking rock stars who have an impact on the music industry get bored with retreading old ground. That's why they're more passionate about doing new material that just remastering old stuff. If they didn't have that personality, then they wouldn't have done all the cool stuff we like from the '70s to begin with. You really want GVH3 instead of a new Queen album? REALLY?
