I just purchased this: http://i29.tinypic.com/ruvby8.jpg

Can someone give me more info on this sort of 'items'? Are there any other collectable Queen stamps out there? What might be a potential price for these? I paid less than a Euro. Did I just get screwed? :P They're from Congo, that's all the seller had to say - oh really? I didn't notice.
Thanks. :)

If these are real DRC stamps, I'll be very surprised.

Paul Jackson as Freddie Mercury????
Well, since you asked...

1. Oh my God, how tacky are they?????

2. You were overcharged

3. The fact that other African countries are involved suggests that either a) some countries are so poor that they have to pimp their mail service to random idiots, or b) these are faked and obscure countries are chosen who are never likely to sue.

4. Why would anyone stick a Queen tribute Freddie on a stamp alongside the (real) other three?

5. Why would you knowingly pay for such tat?

6. Would you like to buy the official Queen Air Guitar?

Then we can assume Richard Gray might have had something to do with them.

Anyway, I was expecting a reply oozing sarcasm coming from you. The thing is that I actually managed to pick up some info I needed from it. So I guess that requires an honest thanks. :-]

There is actually a third alternative.
Maybe these countries have a service similar to Finland, where you can send your own image files to be created as stamps?

There's nothing stopping me from ordering a set of 20 valid Finnish stamps with Brian May's ugly mug, as long as I use a cartoon instead of an actual portrait.
Like an idiot I bought about 20 of these

when they came out, hoping that some day I would
retire on the proceeds of a Sotherbys auction :(

I gave an honest answer, you then asked for further thoughts. Sorry you didn't like them, ingrate.

Ingrate? Are you sure you read the rest of my post where I was actually thanking you for the info provided inspite of the sarcasm? I didn't think it was that subtle. Here you have it again, this time straightforward: Thank you!

No, I saw the thanks, I just didn't appreciate the backhanded nature of it's delivery.
Well, I guess we're even when it comes to pleasant deliveries. ^_^

Back to topic. You mentioned that I was overcharged, but as I said, the guy sold thousands of stamps like these, musically themed and others. Among the buyers were lifelong collectors who did not hesitate to pay 0.8 euros or more for them. These musically themed ones are rather decent, compared to the Disney or the dubious Bejing (Peking) Olympics ones (all of African origin). That is why I came here and asked in the first place. The seller wouldn't say anything, and I don't know how to contact the collectors. I realize they're not a big deal, but I was curious and actually surpised to see John there - probably more than seeing that Paul Jackson guy.

Well, hell, try this:

Actually, my real name is Umbweke. My father was the king of Umwekese until rebel factions staged a rebellion and murdered him. I have access to 70 Million in Diamond rights, but I just need your bank account # and 10,000 cash. And then I'll split the 70 Million with you.

35 mill... Gee, I don't know... Got Queen stamps? I might reconsider. ;)
