The Best Of The Best - year 1978

After listening to the Montreal show, some remarks:

At first, I was surprised about the excellent sound. I haven't compared it to my "old" recording of this show, but this appears to be an upgrade. The only annoying thing is the taper himself, when clapping against his recording equipment (he must have been extremely embarrased when listening to his recording for the first time!).

It's obvious that the whole band is in perfect shape. Freddie concentrates on every detail, his piano intros and vocal ornaments sound very elaborate. A pity, that his voice cracks a few times.
Brians voice is rather loud in the mix, and in my opinion the vocal harmonies profit from that. They sound very balanced and they are done very well throughout the concert.

What struck me, is that BoRap sounds very similar to the Live Killers version, esp. Freddie's vocals.

Brian seems to be in a special mood that evening, he talks very much (in French, too).

Conclusion: Fantastic show and an adequate recording. One of the top ten Queen performances on my list without a doubt.

Unfortunately the better version is only B+... What a pity, in that gig Freddie voice was more that awesome... I never heard a concert with a better performance!
