As for not being in a band, well, you're not in a band now, but who knows what's to come? And more: it may be fun enough and entertaining enough to play on your own and test different guitars.
When I have to play the guitar it's mostly acoustic and it's a brand which is not well-known, I think it doesn't even exist anymore, they went bankrupt or something - I inherited it from my father and kept using it. Anyway, it's a very cheap one. Though I think it's already too expensive for my skills. lol
