Screw the rainforest. Cut down more trees.

It harbors more than half of all species of our planet which are essential both to research, medicine and the environment. Lots of medicines came from insects living there, and which depend on the vegetation. :-) It's just one aspect of how important it is for us, but it's also important for the environment, for various reasons.
I don't think "screw the rainforest" is an intelligent way of managing such a resource. The illegal deforestation which is rampant there claims many people's lives and generates what are tantamount to local wars.
If there's a need for cutting trees, it must be done in an intelligent, careful and wise way to avoid harm to the population, to the rule of law and to the environment.

I couldn't disagree more. Having never seen the rain forest personally, I cannot know if it exists for certain. Show me the rain forest.
