Delilah

Why do a lot of people seem to hate Delilah...i mean on balance it's not a crap song like some people say, they specifically pick this one out!! I mean his voice sounds tired on it, but powerful and if i could sing like he does on that songs i'd be so happy!

It's not such a bad song, but it's... almost embarrasing.

Its the only weak track on a brilliant album.

"I cant live with you" is also veeery weak...

Sounds like a demo compared to the rest of the album.

I think Delilah's brilliant.

My least favorite on the album is I Can't Live With You, and I don't *hate* it.

I can't live with you is a pretty good tune, and delilah Is decent enough, But headlong has become one of my least favorites on Innuendo. It's such an ordinary rock song with no real punch.

Yeah, but it's an important tune, in that it's one that comes in handy when converting new Queen fans. It's basic, non-threatening, and appeals to the IQ under 90 crowd.

I think you should see Delilah in another perspective. A man dying of Aids is singing about his cat still giving him a smile on his face. I think it has been written in the same mood as 'A Winters Tale'.
It shows Freddie doesn't take himself so serious and it is a light moment on a quite heavy album. It is a nice breath of air after listening those heavy songs like Innuendo, Headlong, Ride the Wild Wind and emotional heavy ones like Don't Try So Hard and These are the Days.

This track makes you ready for the finale with heavy songs as The Hitman and The Show Must Go On. I think it fits and I understand why the track appears on Innuendo.

I agree on the whole. Its a daft song, by a guy who was still able to be daft despite his world being a fairly dark place at the time!
A good portion of songs Queen recorded featured this silliness and tongue in cheek; this is no different.
It might not ever make a 100 greatest ever songs list, but if you understand the context and dont take it seriously, its great!

Plus it has Brian May making cat sounds with his guitar - where else can you get that! :D

p.s. Having owned Rocks before Innuendo, I prefer the Rocks Retake of I Cant Live With You. I dont think its a bad song on Innuendo, just lacking in execution slightly!

Worse than Hitman? I can't help singing along to it but yeah, the lyrics let it down and the meeow? Ouch. Nice guitar work though.

Delilah is a great song. It's the eccentric bit of "Innuendo" along with 'I'm Going Slightly Mad'
