This is HUGE news. Finally a new exciting release from Queen, the first since Milton Keynes. (It's already been 4 years I think...)
But now, come on, some of you people are complaining and dissing this release even before knowing the tracklisting, packaging, etc. That's not understandable...
This is very exciting and a huge opportunity for QProd to wash their hands and present a neat product. Let's all wait for the details and then you can complain whatever you want ;-)
(Of course, I'm assuming that this IS going to happen this time)

They'll probably do something daft and annoying like release it in parts, rather than one full set.
This is a pointless product that doesn't meet the needs of dedicated fans or casual fans. It's hard to understand the logic behind it.
It's not a "totally" pointless product as it means that out of the proposed 10 discs, we should at least get all the extended remixes & B sides (preferably remastered) in one package and on CD, rather than spread between Vinyl & CD.
The other way of looking at this product is that Queen are obviously feeling happy enough to start releasing (nearly) comprehensive collections.
We are one step closer to the Anthologies.

Whatever floats your boat. It seems pointless to me. Hardly anyone will buy it as most fans already have all of this. And casual fans aren't interested in poorly done extended versions or instrumental versions of songs they already have. My guess is that it lessens the chances of archive material being released as its failure to sell will be used by QP as an excuse not to release any more "risky" product.

Whether you like it or not, there is at least some market for the singles box set, and they have a pretty good idea of its size after the FM box set...

...Assuming that everyone who bought a bunch of rare and unreleased recordings by Fred will be willing to buy non-rare, pre-released recordings -- a big assumption. But I can see your point.

You did make an substantial effort to convince the readers why the singles box set shouldn't be released, and made it quite clear you don't like it as a release, so it's not that odd to say "whether you like it or not".
The fact remains that QP does have some figures to base their decisions on, and they wouldn't be releasing the set if it wasn't profitable enough.
My gut feeling tells me that this is the only "bigger" release we will ever get from Queen. Not because it sells poorer than expected, but because they want to exploit other publicity to sell it.
The first album by "Queen" after 15 years is a one-holiday-only free advertising campaign for any product, and that isn't going to be repeated if they ever decide to record another album.
The fact remains that QP does have some figures to base their decisions on, and they wouldn't be releasing the set if it wasn't profitable enough.

You could start an argument in an empty room.
I hope they make the real B sides available on a separate disc too. So the serious collectors can buy 10 CDs with the original singles and remixes and exotic 12" versions, and those who only go for the music can buy only one CD, with the really worthwile 10-12 songs on it. It would be nice own that and we would shut up until next Christmas, when the outtakes and demos are released.

I'd love to hear your best 12. My ideal tracks afor this standalone album would be the original ones only (or mostly) released as B sides, like Hijack My Heart, I Go Crazy, Soul Brother etc. No remixes, no extended versions, just pure album leftover :)
