Ah yes, what a good album... but a strange choice for the author? I didn't know Roger was into progressive rock, especially Genesis.
Its a strange choice, but I learnt somewhere a while ago that Roger was in contention to be Genesis's drummer at one point a long time ago, so theres a long connection there.
Phil collins has drummed with Queen, and I THINK Roger drummed with Genesis when they played that early 90's festival together - the one that ended up being Phil Collins last gig with Genesis before he quit.
Its quite possible Roger is both a fan and friend of the band in that case.

Genesis & Queen did some gigs together in the early days. Roger is a close friend of Mike Rutherford - I'm sure there are more connections.

Not sure why he's writing on Foxtrot... I would have thought his input would have come on Trick Of The Tail since he was asked by Phil to replace him on drums so that he can focus on vocals.
Hmmm.... Maybe Roger can go back to Brian and John and show them what Genesis has been doing to their old catalog lately, instead of focusing on one album from 1975.

No he wasn't. Phil and Roger were contenders for the drumming role in Genesis when their drummer John Silver left in 1970. Phil auditioned, Roger didn't.

I thought Roger was mentioned as a choice before Bruford landed the short stint. Perhaps that was just talk, nothing official.

Let's hope that Roger provides a decent, lengthy comment. He has been known to be brief...
It's not like they're expecting a lenghty essay from him... The previous boxsets had about two pages of general impressions for each album in the booklet of the bonus disc.
(And that means any Roger fanatics don't need to bother buying the individual album!)
