The new Super guitar has been quite a mystery for some time. There has been much speculation as to what the guitars specifications are.
There has been little or no information made available.
Mike Ryde and I have discussed this guitar many times, even wondering how different the production models would be from Mike’s own prototype model.
We approached Greg Fryer asking if he would be happy to answer an in depth questionnaire about this guitar.
Greg has very kindly returned this questionnaire. KZ Guitar Works has also very kindly supplied some excellent pictures.
With the recent video footage of Brian using the Super live on stage during the current Queen and Paul Rodgers tour, this all seems so much more relevant.

This presentation offers an insight into the design team, their ideas, construction details and technical challenges experienced in creating the Super.
The changes requested to the original prototype models are fully described as well as the highly important Fryer/Adeson Tri-Sonic pick-ups developed using the technical specifications of the original “father and son” modified Tri-Sonics on the original Red Special.

That type of guitar was produced a long time ago by John Birch in the UK.

I don't think that Brian is playing this guitar. Maybe a souped-up version was made especially for Brian, but I doubt his meets these standards:
About the wood:

Actually Brian has been playing the BMG Super throughout the current tour. His version is a prototype and is less acurate than the current production models.

Here's a picture of the Super that Brian is playing live, You can tell it's the Super by virtue of the f*****g great big 'SUPER' sticker on it!...just in case there was any doubt!
