People on here often say that the sound of Queen is outdated and the drums sound outdated. What do people mean when they say this. To me Queen 2 has the most dated production with the drums and bass being nearly inaudible in parts. What are the outdated parts?

I think they're both brilliant albums.

I think they're two of Queen's best albums, however people say the production of them sounds outdated. I'm asking what they are talking about specifically?
Those records are recorded 35 years ago.

It would be nice if Queen and Queen II could be engineered to sound as good as the production we hear on todays recordings, but obviously this will be a tall order with tapes involved.
If they could do that with the whole catalouge up to current that would be a nice treat for the fans and public as the music+vocals was so good, even though we would be putting our hands deeply in the pockets again!
I do believe some of the original sound recordings could have been better or clearer.

"Hot Space" sounds more outdated that Queen and Queen II...

Hmm.Yea i do agree that in some parts of Queen and Queen 2 the drums and bass are nearly inaudible.This would be because of the recording process at the time.But i also feel that somethings might just be better left alone.We might just be pissing on a Picasso if we start to tamper with it.
Big difference in the sound quality between Queen I and Queen II. The first album sounds distorted and fuzzy in places (I don't mean where it's meant to be like that). It's also a bit 'distant' in places. The acoustic guitar especially doesn't sound very clear. In contrast, Queen II is crystal clear and still sounds fresh and new.

Depends on which mastering you own, if you listen to the Japanese mini-vinyl edition, the sound is quite impressive and a lot less outdated...
