Wasn`t the song Love of My Life dedicated to Mary Ostin? And was it she who left Freddie? I`ve read here in the forum that Brian said he didn`t know who Freddie dedicated the song to. Was he telling the truth?
I think it was for Mike Ostin.  Or Steve.  Yeah, that's it.  Steve Ostin.  He paid 6 million for it.

And then he walked wearily down the street with the brim pulled way down low.
I understand what you`re driving at. But i am really interested, that was the time Freddie and Mary separated. I`ve heard some fans saying the song was about Mary. But you could know better...
I was always under the impression that it was written with Mary in mind. Perhaps as a call not to leave him (as a friend) even though his sexuality couldn't let them be together.

Brian's comments on Saturday were more along the lines of "No-one ever *really* knew who Freddie wrote this about", and I think was mostly a throw-away comment leading into his "let's sing this for our mum's".
dbruce,i bet the hairs on the back of your neck stood up when he sang it.mine did.from my distance away im sure brian brushed a tear away at the end.
Thank you for sharing your ideas. I also believe the song is devoted to Mary, maybe as a final appeal: they stayed together for 7 years, didn`t they? Freddie loved her all his life in his own way and left everything to Mary after his death as far as i know.
Why would Freddie sing "Bring it back home to me"?  He made the choice, not Mary.

Love Of My Life, you've hurt me.
You let me swing to the other side and now I leave you.

Then I could believe that.  Not all love songs are composed with a certain person in mind.
