From QOL:

One of rock's most respected bass players, Neil Murray gets on a bus and rides to Cardiff for tonight's Queen + Paul Rodgers Concert

With Queen + Paul Rodgers’ tour bass player Danny Miranda needing an overnight stay in hospital tonight for an urgent minor surgery, regular bass collaborator Neil Murray – a man who has also backed Eric Clapton, Sting and Black Sabbath - is giving up his post in the We Will Rock You musical house band to make an urgent house call to Cardiff tonight to fill in for Danny for the band’s sold out Arena show.

While Neil is familiar with most of the band’s biggest hits – playing them every night in the band’s West End show, he has some catching up to do when it comes to the new songs the band perform from the Cosmos Rocks album. Neil ‘s rehearsal will take the shape of several hours spent with musical director Spike Edney and guitarist Jamie Moses on the bus ride down to Cardiff this afternoon.

Good luck Neil...

Danny is expected to rejoin the band for the next concert – at Birmingham’s NIA on Thursday

I thought Neil Murray was simply great! It's credit to him that he could do this at the last minute.!!

Heh, this sounds like the clowns ride by bus, while the stars arrive with helicopter (like in Knebworth or Milton Keynes)

Rather insuting to Neil Murray's skill as a bassist and his intelligence I think!! Probably just an off the cuff remark. BTW after last nights performance maybe Danny is history anyway!!

No intension to insult Murray, since I have love him ever since from his Whitesnake years

I rather try to refer Edney and Moses, since QPR is like two level band, in the album covers etc. Queen+PR is Brian, Roger and Paul (big letters) plus Spike, Danny + Jamie (small leeters)
pratically the brian may band/sas band
from a different perspective; what an immense talent Roger is. cardiff was, musically, the brian may band with roger on the drums. and it sounds like Queen. his playing and vocals are as essential as brian's guitar

That was my thinking as well. Brian May band with another vocalist and of course Roger on drums. What a great gig though -  more of a Queen show than the 2005 tour.  Also I think the presenation was top notch with a better lighting rig - looked a better set up stage as well - looked more roomy somehow compared to 2005.

Overall a much better gig than 2005 - great audience as well although they were quieter on the new songs.

Wasn't meant as a personal insult but to the person who originally coined the phrase.
