Who has been the greatest live act ever?

The Stones, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Queen, Pink Floyd, Bowie, Nirvana or someone else?

This Day in Music have just started a poll to find out. If you fancy voting for who you think should win go to http://www.thisdayinmusic.com

You can vote for any act, just go to 'other' on the list.

Thats pretty obvious isnt it, of course its QUEEN, the others are just garbage in comparision, both in music, live performance, singing etc

Yawn...that fucking TROLL again.

Well I have to say:

The 60s, The Who

The 70s, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd

The 80s, Queen

The 90s, U2(Zoo-TV anyone, great shows!)

Nowadays, well, Heaven and hell put up a great show, ´tallica aswell...Depeche Mode on the 05-06 tour...

The Who.

As Roger Taylor put it a few years ago; "Where the fuck were the Who?"
They would definitely get my vote, for a good chunk of the stuff I've heard from 69-75.  The Who gain favour with me for the same reason that Queen do - there's 4 guys, one of whom is just a singer most of the time, but they deliver a very broad sound, simply because they know their instruments and play them like mother-fuckers.  The Who win for me though because (in their most active moments, at least) they were crazier.
Brian, I love you, but I've never seen you headbutt a Gibson and then throw it at a cymbal.

I guess any tool in the 8-12 age bracket would probably have a problem with anybody choosing The Who over Queen, but fuck 'em.  Just because I perceive them to have an edge doesn't mean I'm not in awe of at least ten other bands' live acts.  Although I am sick of people trying to turn me onto Muse.  Yawn.

Queen! At live at the bowl especially

[/QUOTE]

tell me you were actually at that concert - and oyu weren;t judging it from the dvd/video....because i was there...about ten feet from the stage...and i thought it was ok, but nothing special....i have seen queen five times between 79 and 86 and the bowl would not be in my top 3

as for best live band....honestly? queen were brilliant at gigs i was too young to attend - hammy 75, earls court 77 and hammy 79...

but from gigs i attended...best bands? ad/dc donnington (for those about to rock), ac/dc nec
inxs (kick tour 87), bowie (serious nosebleed tour 83), scorpions knebworth 85, deep purple 85,  lizzy 78, sabbath (heaven n hell tour)
go deo na hÉireann The best QZ epoch: BG17-00 (Before Gerry 1996-2013)
The Who, no doubt about it. Saw 'em in 2000, 2002, 2006 (twice), and will be seeing them next Sunday. Those old fuckers still know how to rock.
Queen

Daylight

The Who
Thin Lizzy
Pink Floyd

Any number of Classic Rock acts.

Me in the shower

Any American Teenybopper lip synching wannabe/Rappers
Actually I'm changing my vote.  Fuck The Who, and fuck you Pete Townshend for not coming to Australia.

Hell since my city (Perth) is such a shithole (it is), go and do Melbourne if you have to - I will go into debt to cross the country and see you.  You hear that, cunt?? 3000km, but I'll do it, so hurry the fuck up and tour this place before you croak.
It'll be my first rock and roll road trip.  Wooooooooo.

Queen #1 of course.  Other than that the best shows I've ever personally seen were Bruce Springsteen, ACDC, Lindsey Buckingham, David Lee Roth (in his prime with Steve Vai), Pink Floyd, Extreme, John Cale
I voted for Queen too but never actually saw the original line up in person. Of what I have seen in person(obviously not counting QPR) I'd say Meatloaf, Fleetwood Mac, Guns N Roses and Oasis put on pretty great shows.
IMHO, Queen, but 70s Queen up to the Jazz tour.  When they were a four part rock band and the set was filled with rockers like It's Late, Jailhouse Rock, SHA, Ogre Battle, Lia, TYMD and WWRY fast version, they fucking smoked.  They understood how to work a stadium crowd to perfection by the Magic Tour, but apart from a band sounding tight and raw, they could stand up to Aerosmith or The Who in their day for heaviness and great musicianship.
Led Zeppelin.
