Heaven for Everyone

Hi All

Perhaps not the most thought provoking of threads, however....

Have always been a little disappointed with the Queen "cover" of Heaven for Everyone.

I can only assume that when RT & FM laid down the track on Shove It (The Cross), they were happy with result? To my mind the Queen "version" just does not have the same appeal. For example why lay a vocal over the bass solo mid track? I suppose the simple answer, is that as a song on a Queen album, it needed to have a Queen identity? Just don't think they needed to fiddle around with an already good track!

Anyway, if anyone out there has an opinion, it would be good to hear from you.

I love Roger's vocals in the original (especially the opening - "While you are imagining...."). I miss them in the revamp.

I have to say I personally much prefer the 'Queen' version on 'Made In Heaven'. Fantastic guitar solo and a huge improvement on the original in my view.

I have the american version of 'Shove It' with Freddie on vocals and that version is superior to the Queen version.

Gutted I've been sussed so quickly, I'm writing these posts between shows!

I think there's a good reason why it was left out in the first place.
If it was better it would have come out on an earlier album.

I think the song itself is less good than most Queen songs...

I dont think its a bad song - good album song! Was surprised though it came out as first single though from album. 

The Queen version of I was born to love you is fantastic and would have been a better choice in my opinion.

I think it's a really nice song myself. I like the understated way Freddie sings the first two verses. It's still strong and powerful like anything from the man but it also seems understated and soft to me which is why I like it.
