I recently discovered that Freddie has been dubbed the first Asian rock star. Then it occured to me that...Freddie Mercury wasn't Asian. He attended school in Panchgani, India, but that doesn't make him an Indian! He was born and lived in Stone Town, Zanzibar, Africa. If anything, he should be the first African rock star.
Can Freddie Mercury be considered Asian if he was not born or was not a citizen of any Asian country?

Ethnically he would be Asian.
Geographically, his place of birth is in Africa.

Without sounding xenophobic Freddie thought of himself as British.
Many people from the old colonies had British empire/commonwealth had British citzenship and he was educated in a British style. Did you guys/gals not view the magic tour he is proudly displaying the Union Jack, not any indian or asian flag or even one from Zanzibar.
People in america for example the biggest immigrant country in the world pay too much attention to ethnic origin, why??? You are all american citzens end of story regardless of race.
If everybody on earth researched their origins back far enough we would probably all come from the same country.
