Hi everybody! Sometime ago I bought the dvd Making off plus a night at the opera... and, well, the second disc, the videoclips one, says that come with 5.1 track, from the menu I choose tthe 5.1 audio, but it doesnt work! it just simply play the stereo track... so... I thought that it was a pirate version, or maybe a bad disc, or some problem like that, so, I downloaded the dvd from a torrent... but this time it was the cd-dvd version of the dvd... but it has the same problem! this version of the dvd is diferent, it has diferent menus, etc, but it also has the same fucking 5.1 missing track problem... anybody here is having the same problem or is it just me?

thanks,..
There may be a problem with your setup. I have both editions and they have DTS 96/24 5.1 tracks, playing just as advertised. Your DVD player might be downmixing DTS 96/24 signals to two channels, or the same might be the case with your A/V receiver. I might even go as far as to say that the Making of + ANATO and the CD+DVD version of ANATO have a slightly better mix than the DVD-Audio version of the album, which is also in 5.1 of course...

What DVD player and A/V receiver are you using? How is your DVD player connected to your A/V receiver (ie. optical or s/p-dif digital connections or 5.1/6.1/7.1 analog multi-channel connection or HDMI)? These all have a say in what you can and cannot listen to with your setup...
Get on your bikes and ride!
Maybe your player/receiver doesn't support DTS.
If I remember correctly, all released Queen-dvd's have only Stereo and DTS and no Dobly Digital 5.1.

I play my dvds on the computer, which DOES decodes 5.1, I used to watch Queen GVH 1 And QGHV 2 on 5.1 and they work great, on full and glorious 5.1 sound, is only the anato dvds that creates me problem... the dvd of anato, its 4.7 gb or 8.5 gb? because both of them that I have are 4.7 gb...
oh, I forgot to mention that I even have downloaded a audio rip of the dvd audio, o wav, and it works fine... I play my dvds with Power Dvd, and vlc media player sometimes...
The Queen ANATO-dvd package says they're both a dvd9, so dual-layered (8,5gig).
But it's weird if that would create the problem, don't know what it could be.

Apparently there are differences between the NTSC and the PAL version.
You have the NTSC version, I the PAL version and the back looks a bit different on the lower bottom.
Weird that here they use 2 dvd-9 and you have a dvd-9 and a dvd-5.

Yeah, and something very weird too, is that on the first disc, there is no 5.1 sound, only stereo! it suposed that only on the second disc the 5.1 sound was necesary... but on the box it says that on both disc are 5.1 sounds...
Mine says Disc 1; DVD9 -16:9 screen format - Dolby Digital Stereo.
                Disc 2; DVD9 - 4:3 screen format - DTS Digital Sorround Sound - 24bit PCM stereo.

So it seems that mine is correct and yours isn't, maybe mine was distributed later or something like that, don't know.

add; I watched the first dvd and it's Dolby Digital 2.0 at 448Kbps.

well, that seems to be the only explanation (thats a word?) for this problem... thanks for the help...

i´ll hace to go and buy another copy... this time a´ll buy the cd/dvd version... I hope it works fine this time...

i just read this entire post it was pretty insightful, maybe a misprint...

BUT...has anybody else noticed that THE PROPHET'S SONG is not presented in the full play through of the Classic Albums DVD?

or is this just a USA thing?

It's accessible from the track listing options but not featured in the entire selection, which is a damn shame cause it's possibly the most ambitious Queen Song ever. (that's tying with about 8 other tracks admittedly)
