2.nd Bob`s post. We bow down to your wisdom! Thanks to people like SirGH and his shares we get something we can call quality and the best version available. I could mention other people who share stuff, but it seems like you have an agenda against SirGH, so i only mentioned him. It`s really irritating to read all this stuff. You are the one who are ungrateful Tiger. BTW, you mentioned its so easy to get shows on other sites. Where have you lived the recent years, your summary just dont add up. Most of the shows which are shared elsewhere was first shared at QZ. Without QZ, the shares would not be available other places. QZ have never been one of the best when it comes to quality standards and your comments shows my point ( others will understand). You talk about effort....yeah, its really hard to dowload stuff from the HUB and then upload it here. Dont get me wrong, its OK that people does that, but i cant really call it a big effort. Im much more thankful to people who share their silvers, personal complications ( like SirGH and people like Pittrek have shared) and recordings members on this board have tried to improve with software. Now THAT takes an effort and those people who does this DO deserve to get credited.
Take the Drammen 82 bootleg. Everyone wanted it, but most people just wanted it because it was rare. When it was shared, it was mostly hit and run. Peronally, i used alot of effort to get a personal copy of this show. I had it before it was shared and then suddenly everyone had it. That was OK by me, but i get irritated when people want everything and when its finally shared....well, then its just another download and time to request a new one. Now THAT attitude is NOT something that motivate people to share stuff here.
Fed up...well, ditto to you....and goodbye.
A small editon: I see the Munich shows are request. So according to your summery, its more convenient to just share the HUB version than to perhaps get an better version from a genuine share which includes ripping, editing etc ? According to you, quality is not for people on this board, but only for the ones who trade and wants quality? I know i write difficult and not logical, but i just dont get where you are heading....

Yeah, stupid FLAC... this shift in mentality only gave us things like the new (and often master) tapes from Portland 74, Dallas 78, Vancouver 78, two nights in London 84, Manchester 86, etc. - but note that these tapers shared their material elsewhere, and not here... and you probably will never understand why.
Unearth a new thirty-year-old tape and then tell us you've done something worth reading about.

I have the first night from LP, but unfortunately it's lossy. But I've got a great copy of the second night, and gladly I'll share. I'll just need a day or two to get it all worked out.
See Tiger... it's as easy as that. But the funny thing is... even though you don't agree with the way people with quality standards conduct their business, I bet you'll be the first to download it without thanking the taper, the person who transferred it to digital, or the sharer. In fact, when I shared my compilation of the two copies of the Toronto 78 audience tape, your response was something to the effect of "same old shows over and over again"... that's rich, coming from someone who criticizes others for not thanking people for lossy or otherwise superfluous shares.
>ditto and good bye.

Are we really having this argument again? Tiger, if you're unhappy with the way the website works then just leave or here;s an idea - shut up complaining and try to do something about it?
Frankly I can't see how you can possibly be taking swipes at Sir GH - he's done far more for to preserve and promote quality and to put rare gigs into the fans hands than you ever have. And, frankly, resorting to cheap insults the way you have says a hell of a lot more about you than it does about the person you're trying to insult.

Congratulations, you found a lot of stuff that's commonly available... just not here.
Tell me, what exactly have you given back to the world of collecting that has given so much to you? I'm talking about tracking down new recordings that 99% of collectors haven't heard before, so re-sharing things here or in the hub doesn't count. So in other words, since the answer to that question is precisely "zero", the question is therefore revised to... what in your ungrateful and clearly mean-spirited mind warrants your lashing out against contributing members?
And on top of that, what in your mind is somehow convinced that lashing out against these kinds of people will actually spawn new recordings? Or are you one of those people who thinks new recordings magically fall out of the sky, i.e. not considering the process that gets the recording from the concert venue to you to point, click, and download ?

Turning, Turning,...and turning again ( Zappa )
Same old story over and over again.
My proposition is:
3 Upload sections:
Videos, DVDs etc.
The upload MUST AT LEAST contain:
Venue, Date, LIneage if possible, video details, like Bitrate, PAL/NTSC, audio details like LPCM, AC3, etc.,
Tracklist.
Any comments are welcome but no MUST

Audio CDs etc.
flac only uploads ( yes SIr, its me who proposes that ) The upload MUST AT LEAST contain all the relevant details.Tracklist, Lineage, Bitrate...Any comments are welcome but no MUST.
A kind of Lossy section, can´t find a fitting name.
Here every MP3 fan can upload his stuff. MP3 only allowed, if there is no lossless copy upped yet.
Here you should also be able to find (obviously) lossy videos in MPG, MOV. or Ipod files etc.
These restrictions work very well on other trackers, but as long as the site owner seems to ignore these reduntant discussions like in this thread, it will be like Zappa said.
And Sir I-know-it-all:
Have you ever counted the years, how long this stupid discussion goes? It must be 6/7 years.
And last not least, can somebody answer me a few questions:
I know this question doesn´t belong into this thread, but I feel like asking them right here.
Did the famous Queenarchivist ever give answers to following questions.
(I don´t read the discussion forum very often for obvious reasons) :
In 2002 we expected a Box containing 4 single Boxsets. Is the latest Box release the poor result after 6 years?
Will there ever be a chance to BUY Hammersmith 75/79, Earls Court, Houston?
And:
There MUST be excellent copies from at least 3 shows, not completely circulated yet:
(maybe hoarded by some I-know-it-all)
Munich 78
Rainbow 31.3.1974
Rock in Rio complete 1985
I´m sure, there exists not only a proshot of 2 songs like on Jap. Jewels
Rainbow 31.3.1974 is also a proshot. All the preparations to do a proshot, were surely not done to take just 2 tracks.
I just bought a copy of Rio complete from Trancer, either it was a 20 gen copy from the master or the guy who stole the tape didn´t know how to copy correctly. In the last case there will be no chance for a good copy, in the first case: C´mon people: Get your asses going...like Freddie used to say, and give it to the Queen world.

Sure, I get into the discussions, but I don't except anything to change here. At most, I often find certain people's replies and attitudes amusing or revealing in some way, but in the long run I really don't care that much...

I didn´t want to offend you, Sir.
If you felt like that, I say sorry. But still, your attidude is: " I know it all "
Anyway, lets stop it. I´d be much more interested in the answers to my questions.
If you know anything more about these three shows (all proshots), I´d be happy if you send me an email.
And last not least,
I can only advise everybody here on QZ, to have a look at the U2, Zappa, etc. fanpages.
And have a look at other torrent trackers. In none of the popular trackers would it be possible to do such an upload like in this thread: as requested by someone of you. Queen Paris 1986. !!!!
What? Audio, DVD, MP3, MPG,?
And Barbara, your advise in this case is not really helpfull.
You seem o have a good contact to the QZ site owner, please ask him about this point.
Compared with Zappateers and others, this upload forum has become a kind of Kindergarden meanwhile. ( right translation: Kindergaten>Kindergarden ??) Everybody can upload anything he wants. No infos. no tracklist, no lineage, no Bitrates, no audiocodecs, nothing.
I wonder how long this will go on.

I didn´t want to offend you, Sir.
If you felt like that, I say sorry. But still, your attidude is: " I know it all "

And there should be nothing wrong with being openly knowledgeable on a subject. Let's suppose this was a topic about cooking. A chef posts his informed opinion on which spices should be used to perfect a certain dish, is refuted by someone with no expertise time and time again, and finally he resorts to some (admittedly fun) sarcasm. Instead of calling him a know-it-all at some point down the line, one should be wise enough to realize who's opinion is more credible from day one of the discussion. Myself, I'd be listening to the chef, not the person who gets his recipes from the boxes of microwavable dinners.
