A good number of them tend to be suspect to have mental issues or conditions, which Japanese society doesn't seem to openly acknowledge as openly as other Western cultures from my understanding (even one of their royal princesses suffers from depression, but they termed it something else, 'mood adjustment' or whatever, so as to not make her look crazy or something......but it's offending to quite a lot of people I think. I don't remember the whole thing at the moment, it's been quite a while since I read about that one).
And TM clearly has mental issues, if not brought up by drugs alone, that probably would need assessing.

To be quite honest (and quite serious) for a moment, I think that TM is suffering from a severe case of paranoia, which leads him to see conspiracies all around, and prohibits him from believing anyone. It is, however, not coupled with a reclusive personality, but with a boisterous temperament, which leads him to proclaim his own grandness as well as the conspiracies he sees (so he's delusional, too).
