Okay, this has been done a million, perhaps a billion times before, but I want to be REALISTIC. Take a single from an album and replace it with a non-single song in which song you'd think would chart.
Okay. Me first. Instead of the USA getting I Want To Break Free, they should of replaced Tear It Up... because the god damn thing would of been the biggest hit on The Works.

Realistic? huh huh huh ? It might have worked ....If Queen actually had toured America in 1984 ...
SO i'll give you the benefit of the doubt : 50/50 as in YES, It might have worked IF ....
I personally think Love Kills would've made an excellent single for Queen in 1984 ....
I really don't like The Works ...as an album it doesn't flow very well , despite some very good tracks.

Tear It Up would have had a much better chance of success here in the States than Break Free ever did.

That had more to do with the song than the video than the song. I honestly believe if there was another video it would have done better in America. I can't imagine what kind of video there might have been for Tear It Up.
I'll correct it for you : Has nothing to do with the song, The video was hated in the US !
My mistake.
I think almost all songs from "The Game" could be succesfull A side singles. "Dragon Attack", "Need Your Loving Tonight" and "Rock It" are so catchy as AOBTD and CLTCL.
Tear it Up?! Maybe Brian may's worst song. Mindless crap,

You've convinced me; it'd have been a major hit.
