MP3 for personal use is fine, really. As long as you don't share any lossy files here or somewhere else, it's no problem.
If you have the original FLAC files, you can easily transfer them yourself to a lossy format. Enough free software programs are available by just a quick search on Google :)

First, download from here - the master tape from the taper himself: http://www.queenzone.com/forums/forum_topic_view.aspx?Q=1071547
Then I'd convert the FLAC files to WAV (with FLAC Frontend) and change the iTunes setting to lossless before converting to m4a. The difference is definitely noticable if you have good headphones, especially on non-professional recordings like this.
