Calm the fuck down dude(Disabled Jester). I have no problem with people thinking Queen is the best band ever so long as it doesn't border on Treasure Moment level of obsessiveness.

I'm not the kind of person who has heroes and idols and all this stuff. The only pics I have on the school's bedroom is from family. At home, I have a painting I did myself trying to replicate one of Isaac Newton's portraits - it's ugly and disastrous, but it's the hommage I could make to this man. Now it's there because people find it cute and it's part of my history, but it doesn't have much meaning to me anymore. :)

Your post is a witness of the extent to which Freddie's death turned him into a myth. He had the illness come to him - he knew it was there and yet he was not careful enough. He caused his own death and harmed, no doubt, many people who liked him.

Fact is that, at the end of his life, and suffering the way he was, he did what many people I met in my life did: he didn't lose his bond with life. He was very attached to life. But that doesn't make him a hero, in my view: millions of people go through that, people we wouldn't even know the name if a friend didn't tell us or if it hadn't happened to someone we liked.

People might say I'm passing a moral judgement. It may be, because it is a moral question which is still relevant in the world today. Very relevant.

I worked with poor local communities, and helped in hospitals too, and I saw people finding out meaning in their lives in the most delicate things one could imagine and, when confronted with pain and death, even if they had lived their lives in miserable conditions, they struggled hard to keep doing what was important to them and to give signs of life and fight for life.

Is it possible that he knew or suspected he had the disease and even so didn't take enough precaution not to pass it on to Jim? It is, I think, and asking it is fair, to my mind, because it's a relevant moral question when it comes to such an influential figure as Freddie: a question which is still very important and affect thousands of lives around the world in the exact same way.

I hope you don't need to remind of people almost dying to get over a flu and do your job, which is studying and struggling hard for what you want. In my mind, it's a duty everyone has to himself: fighting for your goals and valuing your own life.

We, and I include myself here, often use perfectly manageable illnesses as a pretext to just give up.

I hope I didn't sound harsh. I'm just sharing my experience and sometimes it's helpful, sometimes it's not.

In any case, congratulations for the A + !!!

I'm happy for you. Many times I had to play or study while trying to overcome a flu or something like that. Sometimes it was even funny. Tiresome, yes, but always made me feel better and helped me feel stronger and, more importantly, happier! :))

Of course, it only applies to this kind of mild illness which we can manage without lying in the bed the whole day - just part of it - and taking a huge amount of medication.

Best regards!

I don't get you... what the fuck is wrong with being a die hard fan of Freddie Mercury... it' a bloody Queen Forum. You say it as if these people have a problem? If you don't like hearing about people's fascination with Freddie Mercury then GTF!

You really are an odd ball... you've said before that you used to be obsessed with Queen, so why the fuck can't anyone else be without you judging them? Think about if before replying, how rude do you sound? How hypocritical do you sound? I;m not just having a go for the sake of it remember, I am honestly baffled to why you keep taking digs at people on a Queen forum for thinking Queen were the best band ever or that FM was the best singer. Sure there are many other great great artists that i love listening tooout there, but if someone else decides that Queen were THE best and that nobody gets close to them then that's there fucking personal opinion.

I love Queen. I listen to them EVERY DAY and have done for the last 17 years. I think FM was the best thing that ever happened to music. I can't think of any other entertainer that makes me feel as happy as FM did? So should I get the SAIF vote of disapproval? Grow the fuck up.
Stop that. You sound ridiculous.

Idolizing Freddie Mercury is a personal opinion Yara. He's a Icon, loving him or admiring him is a universal emotion, that cannot be control by anyone. You have your own opinion, its yours but give freedom to others for their  own expression...

Hi, dear. Of course! In no way I wanted to imply that she's not...entitled to her own feelings and views! God forbid! I don't want to control anything - on the contrary, I found her post so interesting that I felt myself comfortable enough to share my personal experience too. I found it really great.
I'm all for emma expressing her feelings and views about Freddie. Seeing how differently people from various parts of the world relate to the same subject is exciting and I hope there were more sensitive, delicate and interesting posts like that!
Way to go, Emma!
And congrats again for the A + ! : -))))

to vadenuez : I'm not sure if you are aware of the Paul Rodgers-fans here lately wich hate Freddie
some of them are in this topic ....others like inu-liger don't even show their face in a Freddie-topic
goes to show how much they actually "like" Queen ......yea ...with Paul Rodgers and the TCR [/img]
then they like it .... As soon as Freddie sings "Bijou" in the Q+ concert they'll fuck off and run to the hot-dog stand. respect ? probably never heard of that ....If you mention Freddie here , inuliger and his Q+fellowmen
gladly ass-rape you ...over and over again ....

I LOVE YOU FOREVER FREDDIE ...... AND I MISS YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tend to look up to people like Carl Sagan, Bill Hicks, Bruce Lee, for varying reasons.
Freddie's not exactly one of my 'heroes', but you could choose far worse...  he definitely qualifies as unique and inspiring.
