I think Jazz is a good album, but it was the first one that had some major cracks, and was the weakest out of the first 7 or 8 albums.  The album has 10 good or great songs, but also has 3 horrible tunes. More of that Jazz, fun it, and if you can't beat them being the worst.

Sorry but FWBF is dreadful. Shallow, mawkish, sentimental lighter waving at it´s very worst.

best song: damn, that is the more difficult to answer....White Queen...Bohemian Rhapsody...all the lovely piano ballads...many rocker songs...sorry, I can´t choose

worst song: several of Hot Space and other albums with  too much synths!!! (I like Depeche Mode...but they really know how to be techno  )

best album: as a whole...Queen II and ANATO

worst album: weeks ago I would have said "All the 80's ones"...but these days I have started to listen them again...and most have great tracks...Hot Space is the more weak for me.

I understand that I simply dislike the kind of music in HS...but also, there are many other artists tha have albums quite different one of another. Bowie, to mention one. And the fact HS is quite different to the previous one was an interesting move...but the result is cheesie.

Also, the early 80's has for many artists a changing into a cheap-synth-techno sound...that now sounds quite outdated (Bowie 80's albums are shit too  ).
Ergo, it's not a only a "Queen problem".

Quen has a disctintive sound, no matter the changes, and that's what that make them so fantastic.

Best Album: "I think we've come back to the old Queen," Brian said of Innuendo in 1991, "only better-written, better-played, better-recorded, and with better digital technology."  Innuendo is Queen's most mature album.  It is Freddie Mercury's final statement to the world and consists of 12 compositions that are passionately driven with emotions of despair.  However, the album somehow maintains its sense of optimism in the face of Mercury's inevitable death.  The running order of the songs has always been an attractive element and is quite reminiscent to their earlier works (Ex. Queen II, A Night at the Opera, & A Day at the Races); each song acts as a counterpart to both its predecessor and successor.  Basically, this album is the summarization of everything that Queen was and still is.  I can still remember the first time I listened to Innuendo.  I put my headphones on, hit play, and immediately my mouth dropped as the title track began.  I was amazed at how polished the record was, and how powerful the band sounded despite the condition of their front man.  I was further impressed by the sheer power of Mercury's voice -- even during such bad health, this man was still able to outdo himself!

Worst Album: "This is an album that I dislike," John Deacon said of Jazz in 1984.  Jazz makes me wonder of Queen's creative health in 1978.  Firstly, there are 13 compositions on the album -- the most since 1974's Sheer Heart Attack -- that, in their running order, impose a disjointed feel.  For example, Fat Bottomed Girls and Bicycle Race shouldn't have been separated and instead placed side-by-side.  The album rapidly fluctuates back and forth between different genres/styles.  It would appear that the band had little regard for a natural and flowing running order, which is something the band were relatively prominent at with their previous albums.  Secondly, the album's production quality is far below Queen's normal standards of absolute perfection.  For one, the sound of Roger Taylor's drum kit lacks depth -- it sounds far too tiny.  One would have thought the album was going to sound great since Roy Thomas Baker, for the first time since 1975, joined the band in its production.  The album begs for a bigger, better sound -- much like that of News of the World!  Granted, not all is bad with the album.  It features some gems, such as Mercury's delicate ballad Jealousy, Deacon's magnificent ballad In Only Seven Days, and May's underrated rocker Dead On Time.  I do wish to add one more detail -- the ending is atrocious!  More of that Jazz could have been a great tune had it not included a short remix of the entire album.

Best Song: The Show Must Go On was a powerful closing track for the band's last studio album with Freddie Mercury.  The song is often regarded, as in this month's Classic Rock Magazine, as Freddie Mercury's finest vocal performance on record.  The band sounds tight, and the composition is well-structured.  There isn't much more I can say, except that this song is their most epic anthem in terms of emotional value.  I could imagine it was disturbing for Freddie Mercury to sing this song.

Worst Song: Fun It has been my least favorite Queen song ever since my first exposure to it.  The combination of instrumentation is the biggest let down: tiny drums, big fat bass, and crunchy rhyhm guitars.  It would have been slightly better had the production been better than 'poor'.

Best Song: Bohemian Rhapsody. It's not my favourite song (that would be The Prophet's Song) but I do think that it is the purest distillation of everything that makes Queen the extraordianary artists that they are; the song-writing, the vocals, the musical ability, the creativity, the unconventionality and its operatic nature. I also think it's Queen's most important song, and a candidate for the title of 'greatest rock song of all time.' As I said above, it's not my favourite Queen song; it wouldn't even be in my top 3, but I do think it is their greatest song.

Worst Song: I can't really say. Probably Doing All Right. It sounds too much like a Zeppelin song, and I really dislike it. However there are a few other candidates (such as If You Can't Beat Them, One Year of Love, Fun It and a few other songs), but truth be told, I can find something to like in most Queen songs. This also isn't something I spend much time thinking about.

Best Album: A Night At The Opera. My all-time favourite album from any artist as well, ANATO is IMO the closest Queen ever came to perfection. Not only are almost all the songs fantastic (Sweet Lady, its weakest song, even has a terrific guitar solo), but the song order is magnificent. To open an album with Death On Two Legs is a mark of genius. But really everything on it is awesome; the vocals and music, the songwriting, the versatility. An incredible album, it capped off IMO Queen's greatest three album run- Queen II, SHA and ANATO.

Worst Album: Ordinarily I would say The Cosmos Rocks, but if we're only talking about proper Queen, then I would say Flash, or only among studio albums, The Miracle. Flash is an album I rarely listen to as it doesn't interest me much at all, but it's really a soundtrack rather than a proper studio album. The Miracle is IMO Queen's worst classical era studio album. However, I don't mind it. I think it has several really good songs, thus proving IMO that Queen has never released a bad album (even Flash and TCR have some good things going for them.)
